Mountain Quail Café and Quartzsite, Arizona – Shea Oliver

Stopped in a popular local café to grab a quick breakfast after leaving Kofa National Wildlife Refuge. After nothing but my cooking it was pretty dang good.

If you’re looking for a good home-cooked meal that makes you a little emotional because it reminds you of sitting at the table with mom and dad, Mountain Quail Café in Quartzsite is the place to go.

We ordered the country fried steak with mashed potatoes, corn, and a side salad, and everything tasted like it was made from scratch. The homemade dressing alone is to die for. We also couldn’t pass up dessert and tried the lemon meringue pie and the peach pie with homemade ice cream—both were absolutely worth it and the perfect way to end the meal.

The staff was super friendly and made us feel right at home. The place itself is a little dated, but honestly that just adds to the charm and cozy, home-style vibe.

If you’re craving a true home-cooked meal while passing through Quartzsite, this is definitely a spot to stop. Would happily come back again.

Food generous portions, except the 3-egg omelet seemed pretty small. Cooked as ordered. But very little flavor. Group of 4 came in a good 10 minutes after we ordered, but got food a good 10 minutes before us. 1 in the group was a server in on his day off.
We moved tables because the quiet booth we thought we were getting turned extremely loud with his group. You would think being a server there, he’d know better. If in the area, they MIGHT get a second chance. Can’t remember her name, but it was our server s first day and she was really great!

Great food and service. Only suggestion would be more tea bags when making tea, mine was more watered down it seems but the food and service made up for minor detail.

I used to be a regular customer and still come in once in a while for breakfast which is great and has great service but I found evening time service to be very poor with long wait times to be seated even when there’s empty tables or ignored by staff while I stood waiting to be seated by the register for 10 or 15 minutes with no acknowledgment by staff as they walked past me multiple times. I also feel after eating their New Year’s Eve that the food quality for dinner servings has declined over the years. I would still recommend it for breakfast as different staff works early in the morning and supplies much better service and the quality of food is better for breakfast than it is for dinner.

I go here for their Country Fried Steak and loaded baked potatoe. The food is good. The dining area is quiet. And the staff are courteous. The food is served quickly. They seem to be a popular place, but I’ve not had a problem getting a table.

The waitress was very good. Biscuits came out with the wrong gravy and had to be sent back. I asked for country gravy not the one with sausage and my first one came out with sausage. The photo is the one that’s correct. The other person was halfway done before I got them back and then I still had to wait for hash browns that were greasy and not very crispy. They had been ordered extra crispy. The condiments on the table looked old and dirty. They wouldn’t substitute bacon for potatoes which I think is almost vegetarian discrimination when there’s no other meals specific for vegetarians. Owners reply States otherwise but that’s not what happened. Ordering side orders ends up costing us a lot more. We weren’t warned of an egg surcharge of a dollar and it was just on the bill. I have no problem with an egg surcharge due to egg prices, what I do have a problem with is not being told of it ahead of time. We won’t be going back.

A perfect place for a meal, quiet friendly and excellent food. The staff is wonderful and you can feel the vibe if friendliness even the patrons are all friendly. We ate there 4 times during our stay. The food is stellar and the lemon meringue was out of the world!!!

Me and my boyfriend stopped in and they were amazing! They had outdoor seating so we could bring our dog, very homey. I got the chicken tenders and he got the burger. They were both great and the dog loved the fries too.
