Disappointing Experience
We tried Mountain Mike’s on Sunday January 18th after hearing great things, but unfortunately our experience was extremely disappointing.
One of my daughters cannot tolerate tomato sauce, so earlier in the day we called to confirm whether they could make her pizza with an olive‑oil base instead. We were told this would be no problem. Since the app didn’t offer that option, my husband called in the order and again confirmed the substitution. He was reassured that the order was entered as “no red sauce, sub olive oil.”
When I arrived for pickup, the receipt only said “no red sauce.” I asked the staff to confirm the pizza was made correctly, and they discovered it had been made plain—no sauce and no olive oil. They offered to remake it. Our other pizza and garlic knots were already done, but I didn’t want them sitting in a warmer for 20 minutes, so I asked for those to be remade as well. The employee seemed reluctant, but agreed. I waited another 20 minutes in the store.
When we finally got everything home, the quality was poor. The garlic knots were burnt. The sausage pizza (with olive oil) was correct in base but had barely any sausage—some slices had only one piece. The pepperoni pizza tasted fine but had nowhere near the amount of pepperoni shown in their photos.
We spent almost $50 on this order and were extremely disappointed from start to finish. Unfortunately, we won’t be ordering from Mountain Mike’s again.
There’s a lot of disappointment with our experience and I’ll be fair but honest.
First, the price: we had a coupon; $25 for a large pepperoni, 20 garlic bread sticks and a 2 liter soda. That’s reasonable price for the amount of food we were getting. We got that, extra sauce ($1.00 add on) and then a 15% tip for a total of around $33.50 with tax, give or take some change.
Second, the order experience: We placed our order at about 4:30pm. we ordered online for in store pick up. The website said we’d get an email when our order was ready. The website stated the pizza would take 25 minutes. 45 minutes later, still no email and when we got to the pizza place, the pizza was ready and was warm when we got it.
Third, the service: the employee seemed annoyed with us. When they met us at the counter, they didn’t say anything, just stared at us. When we told them we had an online order, they asked for the name, they got us our order, handed it to us. We said thank you, and they replied “have a good night” and walked away back into the back. They weren’t exactly rude, but it definitely felt a bit off putting.
Forth, The atmosphere of the place felt very uninviting, almost like a chuckee cheeses but more corporate feeling. There’s a small arcade in the place but nothing about it all felt inviting.
Now for the food.
I can’t say I enjoyed it. It was a let down. The pizza was really greasy, and the dough was slightly undercooked. The pepperonis were good, some were burned, but some were perfectly crispy. It feels heavy to eat. I’d honestly put it on par with Little Caesars but like 4 times the price. It doesn’t reheat well either. The garlic cheese bread sticks were a let down. Dry, tough and only about half had cheese of them. The marinara sauce was really good though.
Overall, I really can’t recommend this place to anyone, as there are better places at the same price point.
The friendly, helpful staff, and delicious pizza made this one of our new favourite places for take out!
