With the look of the building and its name Mountain Aire Seafood & Steak, we almost didn’t stop thinking it was a fancy restaurant we should have dressed up for, but it wasn’t. We were just driving home from an event on a Friday night. Come as you are. The staff does not look professional to me, no coordination like a staff/business T-shirt or the hostess dressed up. 3 Large dark dining rooms. Small salad bar that comes with some of the meals ($4 extra otherwise and $7 on its own). I had the fried scallops, a 7 out of 10 to me. I loved the coleslaw (it was sweet and a lot like KFC’s). My husband LOVED “10” the chopped steak with peppers, onions, and mushrooms with gravy on the side (he thought the chopped sirloin steak didn’t need the gravy, so he was happy he had the gravy on the side). The waitress staff worked together nicely. My husband had a cup of coffee that was weak and not much coffee flavor. Decent prices.

I have nothing negative to say; this was an amazing dinning experience. All of the staff were so friendly and they were on top of everything. This Mother’s Day buffet was the best possible start to the day! We will definitely be returning!

I regret to say that I won’t be returning to this restaurant. My experience was deeply disappointing and it ruined my day.
The most serious issue was the oysters I ordered, which tasted spoiled. Just awful. The flounder was overly salty and didn’t seem fresh, though it was at least edible compared to the oysters. The hush puppies were overly sweet for my liking but not terrible, while the fries were just mediocre, plain and unremarkable.
Another major problem is the clear greed. As shown in the photos I posted, they charge $2 for an extra plate, allow only one soft drink refill (seriously?), and serve salad on very small plates considering the price.
The waitress was polite and attentive enough, but unfortunately, that wasn’t enough to salvage the experience.
I strongly advise against visiting this restaurant. It’s not worth the risk to your health. The entire experience felt like something straight out of Kitchen Nightmares.

Traveling the blue ridge parkway, we exited to have lunch. Wife variety of choices, family type atmosphere and excellent service. I had the chopped sirloin steak with gravy and mushrooms, my dad had the catfish dinner and my mom had chicken tenders meal. All the meals were excellent, came with a potato choice and we all had huge baked potatoes, and were excellent portions for a good price. Great place if you bare near and hungry. (We all also needed to go boxes)

We happened to be traveling past here and decided to stop in for dinner. The restaurant is on the mountains with lots of parking in a spacious parking lot. At first glance of the outside we thought it was less casual but on entry it’s very casual. We waited about 3 minutes before we were seated. It was dinner time so the place had quote a few people in both dining halls to the right. The left dining hall was not being used. There is a salad bar right in front. We were seated and a waitress took pur drink orders.
We waited a while for the food. Maybe 20 minutes, we Aldo expected it. As the menu noted the food is cooked to order. We ordered a house special steak, stuffed sole, and a mixture of seafood. The hush puppies and Cole slaw were really good. So was the sole. The portions are really good for the price. The breading is not your run of the mill breading. The chicken strips were actual cuts of chicken breast with a very good breading..bravo for that. Even my picky 6 yr old ate it. The fried shrimp was really good. I would eat here again.

I havent eaten here in a couple years. Used to be a frequent flyer cause everything was amazing starting the moment you walked through the door…well tried to eat here last night and could barely stomach it! For 3 of us it was over 150. Fried fish was soggy and covered in oil, hushpuppies were still powdery in the middle, the fries were so old my dog wouldnt touch them, the tartar didnt taste like tartar (cant even explain the taste), the ranch was more like blue cheese (yes we know the difference), the pie crust wasn’t done…I mean the WHOLE order was awful! Not sure if ownership or management has changed but this family will no longer be a customer!

Had only eaten here one time several years ago and the food was really good so decided to come back this evening for our anniversary; we waited for 20 mins before anyone came to take our order. It was another 10 minutes before we got our drinks. An hour and 5 minutes into our wait we were finally brought our food. The calabash shrimp and french fries were cold, and the steak was cold. We never saw our waitress again. She brought our bill when she brought the food and never came back, no drink refills or anything. Sorry to say our second experience was not at all like our first. Probably will not be going back for a third try.

Went with my wife and son for dinner. I ordered the deluxe seafood platter, my wife had calabash shrimp and my kid had a ribeye. We were seated in the corner where we had a perfect view of the hot window. Our food sat in the window for twenty minutes, we timed it. The food came out old and cold. They remade it but she was mad. We took the remakes to go and found a big long pink hair in the shrimp. The cashier was nice but I don’t think the owner’s daughter/manager cares at all about customer service. I’ll be going to winner’s circle.

Come for the food, stay for the hospitality and the scenery.
I enjoy driving and finding new places. The Mountain Aire Seafood and Steaks Restaurant proved to be a welcome surprise with its excellent choices in seafood.
I ordered the salt and pepper catfish with fries and sweet tea. The catfish was super tasty and the crust was unbelievably crunchy with the perfect blend of herbs and spices.
The fries and tea rounded out my meal and my check was very reasonable. Needless to say my dog Bruster was happy to see the doggie bag.
As I paid my bill, the owner made some hiking suggestions so I took off sightseeing on the BlueRidge Parkway.
The time was well spent as I discovered more hidden treasures.
I loved this area because I am able to spend quality time in nature without spending a lot of money.

I had a 12oz. Steak and I can say, I’ve been everywhere and ate steak, i put this as the best steak and I will say the best steak, way to go, know other word can describe it, the best steak !!! Further ado i found why this place is the best, the lady owner has been working there for forty years and has owned it for twenty two years, if you would have a steak competition, she would win out against anybody in the state of north carolina period !!!
