I’m a huge fan of moulin cafes in general, but all and all this one is my least favorite. The place is smaller, and their service can be a lot better. For example why is it ok to serve an ice cold chocolate croissant with no option offered to warm it up? Despite that, we love to visit here for a quick lunch but hoping this review can help improve their service. All time favorite: French onion soup

⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ Outstanding French Café & Bistro Experience at Moulin
If you’re in Dana Point and craving a delightful French-inspired meal, Moulin is an absolute must-try café and bakery that consistently delivers delicious food, a charming atmosphere, and warm service. With an inviting setting near the coast and a menu full of classic French favorites — from perfectly crafted croissants and crêpes to savory omelettes and croque sandwiches — this spot brings a taste of Paris to Orange County.

Moulin Café is one of those hidden gems that has the power to refresh your day, whether you stop by in the morning for a bright start or before sunset to wind down. The atmosphere immediately draws you in with its charming ancient décor that makes you feel as if you’ve stepped into a European café by the beach.
The staff are consistently welcoming and kind, adding warmth to every visit. Their pastry selection is impressive—fresh, flavorful, and beautifully presented. Pair that with their well-brewed coffee or indulge in one of their subs, and you’ve got yourself a perfect café experience. The menu strikes a wonderful balance between quality and variety, making it easy to find something you’ll love every time.
Its location close to the beach makes Moulin a convenient stop before or after a seaside stroll, and the fact that it has a restroom available adds practicality for longer visits. The overall vibe is cozy yet lively, and it truly feels good to spend time here, whether you’re enjoying a quick coffee break or settling in for a longer chat with friends.
Moulin Café is more than just a café—it’s a destination that leaves you refreshed and satisfied. Highly recommended!

Love the O.J., Croissant with Cheesy Omelette and Quiche was pretty good. Also tried the Custard filled pastry and Marble pound cake next day. This location was a much better experience compared to the Newport Beach location, employee here was friendly, helpful and smiled, which made us want to come back.
Out of all the locations, we visit this one the most. Ava hands down is the best! Always friendly and great to deal with, meanwhile the other girls seem to be wired to be cold and are incapable of smiling.

Okay so this place is cool I like where it’s located. I had an apricot crepe. The crepe was cold and not very presentable. The coffee was also cold and I had asked for extra hot. The plates were sitting on our table for about an hour and a half until we left. Overall it was mediocre, I would go to the Moulin in Newport. Newport has a much better selection, atmosphere and service. I will definitely not be going back!

My family and I were in town and looking for a place to get breakfast. This was really delicious french food. Not much indoor seating, but we got our meals to go. We didn’t realize the breakfast crassonts came with a salad, so that was a pleasant surprise.

This little french cafe is the perfect stop before a long day at the beach. Located close to the parking lot for Salt Creek Beach in Dana Point, this Moulin location is part of a small family owned chain that offers a variety of cakes, pastries, and sandwiches. The iced latte is strong and will give you a much needed boost for hours of fun in the sun. The apple tart is big enough to share and has an almost apple sauce like filling that isn’t overly sweet. They sell little imported packages of cookies and other sweets, as well. There is a covered parking lot in the back of the shopping center in addition to some limited parking spots in the front. Be sure to check out Moulin if you need a pick me up before hitting the waves!

Moulin is a charming French restaurant that offers an excellent dining experience. Whether you’re looking for a delicious brunch or breakfast, Moulin has a wide selection of amazing French dishes to choose from. I highly recommend trying their Croque Madame, which was incredibly mouth-watering. The toasts were perfectly crispy, and the sauce, ham, and cheese were just the right amount.
Their classical French desserts and pastries are also worth mentioning. We tried their Opera Cake and Paris-Brest, and both were excellent. I particularly enjoyed the Paris-Brest with its delicious hazelnut notes and perfect level of sweetness. The Opera Cake was equally delicious, and it was a pure pleasure to eat.
Moreover, Moulin offers a unique experience by selling European goods in their cafe, including chocolate, cookies, chips, and more. Overall, I would definitely recommend Moulin for anyone looking to enjoy a taste of France in Orange County.
