I love this dessert place. It’s a must have whenever I step foot into this mall. Highly recommend to those who have a sweet tooth. Their desserts and freshly squeezed orange juice is a combo that’s to die for.

This charming café is situated in South Coast Plaza, conveniently next to the escalator leading to the bridge connecting the two buildings. In our search for high-quality French pastries in the area, we were pleasantly surprised by the variety of delightful options available. The staff was incredibly helpful in assisting us with our selections and even prepared a lovely gift box. The pastries were exceptional and brought joy to everyone at the dinner.

Quiet place on your way to the bridge that connects the two malls. First off the floors, display windows, counters are clean. It’s a French place with freshly baked pastries, cakes, chocolate loafs, baguettes, sandwiches, salads, coffee, champagne and imported goods from France. I recently discovered this place. Their salads are so big and very fresh. They offer a few selections…a beet salad, chicken pesto Ceasar and a House salad. Their sandwiches are also made that day and once they are gone they are gone. The girls are super friendly with that French flair and ready to box up a whole lot of goodness for you. So much selection for a petite place. Skip that Yu Cake that isn’t even fresh but bussed in from God knows where and try this place. It’s so affordable and a step up from homemade. They offer umbrella seating outside and because it overseas the garden and water ponds… it’s really charming.

Before heading over to the elevator, their sweet caught my eyes. I got there in time before their closing and got a few desserts only.

This place has never disappointed. Awesome sandwiches, wine and fine French desserts. Yes it is a little pricey, but it’s not your downtown French Bistro. It’s South Coast. There is a good reason why this place has lasted for so long.
The vanilla flan outstanding and the ladies working there were phenomenally courteous, helpful and nice. An A plus just for that alone and thank you to the owners too for vetting your employees well!

A definite hidden gem in South Coast Plaza. Moulin offers a wide variety of dessert as well as meals. Their chicken pecan salad is frankly one of the best salads I’ve ever had. As of their dessert, their tarts are not too sweet and their Paris Breast is a must try with crispy and chewy layers of puff pastry alternating in perfect balance with their pastry cream.

All I wanted was this cold bread to be toasted.
Takes 5 seconds.
Employee said “I’ll lose my job I can’t.”
This is the level of empowerment you give them?
Allowing them to deny toasting of bread to please a customer?
What happened to courtesy and going out of your way for a simple request?
Bread is important in my culture, giving me a piece of ice cold bread is sad. But it seems it’s OK to be able to toast others.
Do better Moulin. Train better. Be different.
If subway can do it, you sure as heck can!

Our visit to Moulin, a French Bakery and Restaurant located in South Coast Plaza on December 1, 2024, left us with mixed feelings. The small yet beautifully decorated restaurant only offers outdoor seating, which was packed during lunch hour. The service was quick, with our food arriving promptly after ordering.
We ordered the Flan Parisian, La Parisian Chicken Pesto, and Iced Mocha. The Flan Parisian stood out as the standout dish, with a delicious flavor that left us wanting more. The Iced Mocha, on the other hand, was lackluster and required additional sugar to make it enjoyable. As for the La Parisian Chicken Pesto, it fell short of expectations, being overpriced, cold, and difficult to eat.
In addition to the food, we found the staff at the counter to be somewhat impatient, rushing us through the ordering process. While our overall experience was average, the standout item of the Flan Parisian made it worth the visit. If you’re in the area and craving French pastries, Moulin may be worth a try for a quick bite.

I tried their Pesto Sandwich and I have to say that is was not flavorful at all . I really wish they put something like balsamic vinegar to add extra flavor because it was that flavorless. I was disappointed but of course the sandwich bread was good but the inside of the sandwich should be as important as the bread on the outside. And there dessert can be a hit or miss. I did really like their Dark Chocolate and Carmel dessert but they got rid of and I was very disappointed. I have tried three different desserts but they weren’t as great. The best thing they had so far was customer service I think there is this Asian women who is very sweet and honestly she is the most nicest employee I’ve met at Moulin at this location. So overall the food is not as good but the customer service is better than the food. I’m not sure if I would come back for the food. I forgot the pics of the food but I did take a pic of the place. I would come back though to check if they’ll bring back the chocolate Carmel dessert.

MOULIN is a nice spot to take a break in the middle of or after shopping. The outdoor seating with umbrellas is especially welcome on hot days, offering shade and a chance to recharge.
That said, the pastries were underwhelming. We tried the pistachio flan and the marble cake, and neither stood out. I had higher expectations for the flan in particular, given the $8 price tag, but it didn’t deliver. On the positive side, the latte and tea were both good.
Overall, while the café has a pleasant atmosphere and solid drinks, the pastries don’t justify the price. At this price point, Starbucks actually feels like the better option.
