My favorite place to come whenever I need some soul in my body. I order the same thing whenever I go. The ribs are always good to pair with double spaghetti which I absolutely love to get. The girls in the front are always smiling and know how to get you in and out. The ribs was very juicy ❤️ everything a 10/10

After years of supporting Motor City Soul Food Restaurant, I can truly say that this restaurant is a GODSEND. On days when a home cooked meal is desired, but time and circumstance may not allow, Motor City, in Redford, is the go to. The food and service are consistently good (a must for a “GODSEND” review from me). They serve a complete traditional soul food menu items inclusive of mouth watering dessert options. Compared to competitors, their prices are better. The serving portions are generous. They will allow you to inspect/choose the actual pieces of meat, etc… you will eat. In a day and time when evil and stupid people take pride in doing foul things to the customer’s food, you get to watch them prepare your to-go orders. This really helps to ease the minds of the consumer. I am normally helped by two specific, african american, ladies that work the register. They help me to remember my preferred gravy choice and other nuances. Only restaurants who truly appreciate your repeat business know how to do this. Please forgive me ladies. I didn’t want to slaughter your names, but will edit this review to include you both asap. The chicken and pork chops are so tasty. The green beans, cabbage, candied yams, mac and cheese, are really good too. Motor City has the best cornbread, hands down! The lines are often long, but in Detroit, that’s a sign that the food is delicious and worth the wait.
Motor City Soul Food has multiple locations. I have also visited the Greenfield Rd in Oak Park, MI, restaurant. They usually have shorter lines, but the food is still worth the wait. I never get the same person at the Greenfield location, but I always get good service. Shout out to the people who help me keep my family happy and fed. You are so appreciated.

Whenever I’m in Detroit, I always hit up this soul food spot – the service is always great, super communicative, quick, and respectful, and the food is consistently good. I totally recommend it for some awesome soul food. No dine-in, but if you want to grab and go, it’s perfect, and the portions are really generous.

I spent $45 on two meals today and the food was horrible. The cornbread was dry, the only thing you could taste in the dressing was sage and it was dry, the macaroni tasted like it came from a box , the yams are extremely sweet and the greens had no flavor. All the sides were just horrible.

Went there right at 11:00 am when they opened so why wasn’t the pans of food full which means that they serve leftover food. The turkey was dry no juices, greens salty and the Mac and cheese was just ok. Cake wasn’t homemade. Worst $38 I’ve ever spent. And the customer service was acting like I was at a food bank. No thank you or anything.

Motor city soul food should not be in business. Someone needs to call The Better Business Bureau, the place was dirty trash was all on the floor the food was awful service was terrible. They had 3 people in the building. A young lady was taking orders and doing drive-through. Another guy was mopping the floor, and a young lady was in the back.Moving around, stop cooking.

I keep trying to give this location chances. I’ve been supporting Motor City Soul Food for years. I keep getting disappointed. First they were making the cornbread dressing wayyyy too salty and now I just found 2 long sandy brown pieces of hair in my dressing. I just can’t win…they veggies plates way too pricey to just be throwing food away. So disappointed.

This place was absolutely horrible. My guy friend took me here and I’m going to have to start watching his judgement. The chicken was cold. The cabbage was undesirable and left juice all over my chicken. The Mac and cheese was decent, but very dry. A woman who placed her order after us, got her food first (and neither of us had to wait on food to drop). The place was filthy behind the clear glass. The public area was decent. Customer service needs a lot of work. Though this was a “take it home” night, I won’t be trying this place again. Not at all pleased. And it was extremely over priced.

Was quick. Lunch food style where everything is in front of you and you get to choose what you want. I could tell that customer service isn’t really number one priority. The food is great that’s undeniable. But for the price the service could be better. Especially when you never know who walks into your restaurant.

This is just like the one on 7 mile even worse. Staff is rude. They leave you standing in the lobby Forever, not acknowledging you not paying attention. Food is not all that great to be expensive as it is come off your high horse. It’s really not that deep. This Place is a hard pass for me
