Mother India is by far the best Indian restaurant in Glasgow , and that is quite the compliment as there are many good Indian restaurants in our city. Infact I would say it is better than anywhere else in Scotland or Manchester. I have ate in all the best Glasgow Indians but this place gets my vote every time! Butter Chicken , Lamb Keema, the Coriander chutney and the Mango lassi mmm! My son also loves this place!

We got a couple things to share between two of us which is always the best way to eat Indian food! To start we got some spiced onions and popadoms (obvs) and also chicken pakora and some cauliflower pakora which was a special. All of this was soooo delicious. I’m not really a cauliflower person but there’s something about cauliflower pakora that’s just so good!

Then for our main we shared a veg Thali tray which was a Tuesday special and only £10.95! We went for Channa Daal, Aloo Gobi, rice, chapati, raita, and salad. We also got a garlic chilli chicken and some extra rice.

Again, everything was absolutely perfect, full of flavour and nice portion sizes to be able to try a bit of everything. I would definitely go back as everything was top notch and it was super affordable as well!

Down to earth venue for quality Indian food. We visited on a Tuesday afternoon so it was pleasantly quiet. The building looks like it is a former pub, but has been converted and fitted out with some Indian memorabilia and photographs from the Mother India cookbook on the walls.

Delicious fragrant curries

Came here with a couple of friends, it was a little spendy, but the depth of flavour in the curry we had was top tier.

I ordered a chicken madras, asked for proper spicy, but got white boy spicy nonetheless… ah well. it was really tasty though 8/10

Naans were great, fresh and tasty, paired perfectly with the curries.

We used to dine here whenever we went to Kelvingrove Art Gallery, but this evening we were very disappointed. Whereas the Butter Chicken used to have a beautiful distinct walnut flavour, all 3 of us noticed that it now tastes predominantly of course spices similar to that in a butter chicken dish you are served in any other Indian restaurant. The lemon & cashew nut rice had a couple of nuts and very little (if any) lemon in it. We are all aware that the cost of food has increased, but with many Indian restaurants to choose from which have a less basic decor than Mother India Cafe – since the owner seems intent on cutting costs to the detriment of the flavours – they’ll risk losing previously loyal customers. We noticed there wasn’t the same queue to get a table at 5pm on a Friday evening – need I say anymore!

Delicious lamb chops, peshwari naan and tikka masala (i only had the gravy, and that was delicious too!). Lovely staff who accommodated my requests. Highly recommend. Perfect way to spend an afternoon after visiting the Kelvingrove Art gallery just opposite.

I’ve heard a lot of good things about this place and finally managed to pop in for late lunch. Food was excellent and good value for money we had a set menu which was £20pp and it was plenty of food for sure. One of the best Indian food I’ve had in Glasgow

Mother India’s Cafe offers a truly delightful Indian dining experience. Even with a queue, the waiting staff were incredibly attentive, making sure we felt looked after from the moment we arrived. The food was delicious. We particularly appreciated how the staff took such pains to ensure we didn’t accidentally order anything containing ghee, showing a genuine care for our preferences. The Chana Dal and veggie pakora were an absolute triumph—simple, yet exceedingly flavorful. This is a must-visit!

We had a lovely meal here. We walked in and went upstairs to a very magical and lovely environment. There were candles lit for a romantic ambiance. We had a reservation so the table was ready. We shared four mains, but it ended up being a lot of food. It was absolutely worth it and the left overs were still good the next day.
The service was amazing and all of the staff was really nice.

I’ve always heard really good things about this restaurant but having just finished a takeaway meal of butter chicken, mushroom pakora and naan bread, I’m quite disappointed and wondering if the owners have changed? the curry tasted like a school dinner curry and the garlic naan was flavourless and everything was freezing by the time it got here. I’m feeling sad and troubled 🙁
