A very hip, young vibe and ambiance. Beautiful space snd wonderful staff. Food is good. Some is exceptional. We especially loved the Grilled eggplant with caramelized shallots and ginger soy (thank you Bella for recommending). We also ordered the veggie wontons, charred squid with black rice noodles, grilled baby corn and Szechuan peppercorn sauce, and the miso glazed salmon with black rice and Chinese broccoli. They have a number of summery cocktails on the menu as well but we stuck to our tried snd true which is the Manhattan.

Mother Duck was an alright experience. There are definitely better izakaya places in NYC. The food itself was alright. I would say we enjoyed about half of the dishes we ordered while the other half was a little too acidic for our taste. The almond shrimp was amazing. The duck bao was really yummy. I would avoid the pad thai and curry duck confit.

Did their happy hour, best deal in town! $7 cocktails which is half off. Was able to try most of the cocktails and they were all great.

Tried the eggplant appetizer because we were told it’s the most popular dish and I can see why, very tasty.

Server/bartender was super nice and attentive as well.

Appetizers, drinks, service, ambience = 5 stars
Main meal = 3 stars

Specifically the chicken pad thai, squid ink noodles, vegetarian curry were very underwhelming and I wish we just stick to eating appetizers and drinks! For 3 people, we each ended up paying around $60.

There is both outdoor and indoor seating. We went on a Wednesday at 6pm (start of their happy hour drinks). The place never got that full but it also was a night of a big storm.

Our waiter was great, the tall guy!!

This place is amazing and one of the best restaurants in all of NYC!

Food: super delicious! I didn’t know cauliflower tempura could taste so good! Must try. Everything else was immaculate.

Service: delightful hosts and staff! Food was out in less than 10 minutes and the place was packed!

Price: for two people, it was less than $60 and we ate a lot!

Overall, get here before you have to wait a month to get in!

So I’ve never been to an izakaya restaurant before but the food here was amazing. Not sure what everyone else was complaining about. But yea if you haven’t been to this “type” before you will love it. I had the spicy salmon sticky rice which was really good and the duck buns which were fantastic. Wish I had room to order more. They were so flavorful and the bun was so soft. I ended up with the chicken shrimp Yaskasabi(?) and damn the noodles had a ton of flavor in every bite and the chicken and shrimp were delicious. When I come back I am definitely ordering that bowl again. The vibe was awesome. Great music and nice and airy restaurant. Everyone should check it out.

A mix of asian dishes make up the menu. Small apps for sharing and larger rice and noodle entrees. The background music is too loud in the dining area for conversation giving the who space more of a bar vibe. An all female mariachi came in to perform was the most memorable thing of the night.

Chef Nicholas and his high level of culinary skill brings asian inspired dishes to this new lower east side establishment. We had a variety of fish buns, curry noodles, duck Confit, coconut fish, crispy rice tartar, eggplant, yakisoba tempura, frozen yogurt with chocolate, and more. You must come visit this restaurant in NYC. Will be back again! Congratulations on opening this awesome new restaurant.

Duck buns were pretty good.

Tuna avocado crispy rice was not crispy at all, the avocado was a bit too salty as well. In fact, the rice got stuck in my teeth a lot.

Pad Thai had a lot of things in it with a weird taste profile. Maybe that was the intention (?) but definitely not what I was looking for.

Very nice ambiance. Great for groups or for a date. Tasty cocktails, sadly not all the food was a hit. Very bland and lacked even the basic Thai taste to each cuisine.
