Motek Bakery is a family-owned, artisanal bakery located in Kapaau on the Big Island. We take pride in using locally grown and raised ingredients to create a delightful selection of freshly baked goods, including organic sourdough breads, Mediterranean pastries, spreads, soups, salads, quiches and much more. Known for its warm atmosphere and friendly service, Motek Bakery bakes all items with love and attention to detail. Enjoy our unique Bourekas, hummus, baba ghaqnoush, scones, cinnamon swirls, and daily specials in a cozy setting. On Sundays, we offer a special breakfast, usually accompanied by live music.

Oh my gosh!! MUST GO!!! If you have visited the big island without coming here, then you just have to visit the big island again! We finally made it after seeing this place last year but they were closed during our stay then. They have the BEST dark chocolate cake on the island!! The prices are amazing for how delicious the desserts are. The cake is moist, very chocolatey and not too sweet. The apple turnover was made with fresh apples and the turnover was buttery and crispy. The muffin was made with fresh blueberries and soft and moist. I’m sure everything else is just as good quality as the things we ate.
The owner has lots of cool stories about the Eiffel tower as well if you ask him!

I ordered the coffee cream cake and cold brew coffee, owner is friendly and nice, he’d love to cater to your needs if you bring it up. Food is great and live saver for the poor tired adventurers after a long hiking day. I have no problem recommending this place.

From the moment we walked in, we felt the warmth of this beautiful family and the pride they take in their craft. Their hospitality was heartfelt, and the entire space radiated aloha and kindness.
We enjoyed incredible fresh bread, beautiful Thanksgiving pies, and the most amazing croissants—plain and chocolate—flaky, buttery, and unforgettable. Every item we tasted felt handcrafted with intention and love.
Motek Bakery became a true highlight of our trip. Our family felt nourished—not just by the food, but by the warmth and generosity of the people behind it. We left with grateful hearts and boxes full of pastries.

Delicious selection of pastries and breads at a fantastic price. It seemed more European than Hawaiian but well worth the visit and stop over if you’re in the area. Most items were sold out when we entered at 11am which is honestly a good sign and we were not disappointed.
The pac man (lemon brioche bun with cream) was delicious and the chocolate rye cake was bomb. We loved it so much we went back for another slice… but it was sold out!
Do your self a favor and indulge in their pastries while listening to beautiful live Hawaiian music on their lanai.
