We showed up at the bar ’round 6 (the cabins are in the back of the lot, a short 60 ofr70-foot walk from the bar). Anna (one half of the couple that owns the cabins and bar) was tending bar that night. Sitting at the bar were a couple locals; it was clearly the off-season. We shot some pool, played darts, and otherwise had a good time until about 11PM.
The food is fried and decent enough; the booze and service were both top-notch. Small-town bars all have character of their own; some are just places to get your booze and be left alone, others are clearly trying to be more than they really are. Mo’s is, ultimately, just an unpretentious bar run by people who clearly love what they do. Hamm’s is the beer of choice (being from the West, not one I’d heard of or drank before).
If you’re a craft beer aficionado, you’ll likely be disappointed. On the other hand, if you enjoy rarer distilled spirits, you’ll like this place.
I’d come back. Anna and Travis (and the rest of the folks at the bar, who were awesome but probably don’t want their names on a Google review) do a great job of rep’ing Amidon.
5/5 stars.
The owners, as mentioned, also own Cabins of Amidon; if you’re planning on throwing a few back, I’d recommend staying at the cabins.
