This is the spot! Nice folks in a one of a kind bar. Cheese curds were fantastic. Though we didn’t stay there, the campground looked nicer and cleaner than our Bowman hotel.

Just passing through on September 22 from TRNP Medora driving south to Deadwood. What a discovery. Owner Travis made us roast beef panini sandwich with pickle and fried cheese curds. Beef Jerky his wife made was superb. Bar is down the stairs and you walk in – – has pool table, dart board and good TVs for football. If you are driving through Amidon, STOP here.

Thankful a new owner was able to join our community and provide a much needed service! And the food is top notch! Steak is excellent!! The new owner is updating amenities, and has added a cowboy touch to all the decor.

I was in Amidon earlier this month to collect North Dakota’s state high point. I’d originally planned on staying in Bowman, but Amidon was closer, the cabins at Amidon were cheaper, and Amidon (population 22, proud titleholder of “Nation’s Smallest County Seat” as the billboard on the east end of town reads) struck me as having more character.

We showed up at the bar ’round 6 (the cabins are in the back of the lot, a short 60 ofr70-foot walk from the bar). Anna (one half of the couple that owns the cabins and bar) was tending bar that night. Sitting at the bar were a couple locals; it was clearly the off-season. We shot some pool, played darts, and otherwise had a good time until about 11PM.

The food is fried and decent enough; the booze and service were both top-notch. Small-town bars all have character of their own; some are just places to get your booze and be left alone, others are clearly trying to be more than they really are. Mo’s is, ultimately, just an unpretentious bar run by people who clearly love what they do. Hamm’s is the beer of choice (being from the West, not one I’d heard of or drank before).

If you’re a craft beer aficionado, you’ll likely be disappointed. On the other hand, if you enjoy rarer distilled spirits, you’ll like this place.

I’d come back. Anna and Travis (and the rest of the folks at the bar, who were awesome but probably don’t want their names on a Google review) do a great job of rep’ing Amidon.

5/5 stars.

The owners, as mentioned, also own Cabins of Amidon; if you’re planning on throwing a few back, I’d recommend staying at the cabins.

What a great place both the bar and camp ground. Also can’t go past what great hosts both were. Would stay there again. Traveller’s from Australia.
