Morning Thunder Café is a true gem! From the moment we walked in, the service was absolutely amazing—friendly, attentive, and welcoming without being overbearing. You can tell the staff genuinely cares about making sure guests have a great experience.
The food was excellent—fresh, hearty, and full of flavor. Whether you’re into traditional breakfast plates or something a bit more unique, there’s something for everyone. Portions were generous, and everything tasted homemade in the best way possible.
One thing that really stood out to me was the atmosphere. There’s a sign posted that politely asks patrons not to use cellphones inside the restaurant. I really appreciated this—it created a peaceful, present environment where people were actually enjoying conversation and their meals without distractions. That said, the staff wasn’t overly strict about it, and when I asked if I could take a few pictures of the food out of respect for the policy, they were very kind and understanding.
It’s rare to find a place that combines great food, thoughtful service, and a cozy, mindful atmosphere, but Morning Thunder Café pulls it off beautifully. I highly recommend it to anyone looking for a quality breakfast or brunch experience.

Great place for breakfast or lunch. It does get busy, but the staff does a great job of staying ontop of everything. Indoor and outdoor seating.

They can’t all be perfect. I brought my family here for a Friday lunch. This was probably my 3rd time here. The first 2 were uneventful. The decor is nice. The building looks old and rustic on the outside. There are about 12 tables inside and 4 or 5 outside on the patio. Parking is very limited, and you may need to walk a little. About 4 waitresses were working. If something could go wrong with a meal….it happened to us. Our party of 3 was seated at the largest table that seats about 8. We were given our menus…and we waited for the waitress to return. 3 other tables inside were seated ( including 3 people at the other end of our table that the waitress knew ) after us and they were given drinks and had their orders taken ahead of us. When she took our order, she didn’t even ask if we would like drinks as she started to walk away. I asked to order drinks. No drinks were brought before the meal. By the time we got our meal, 2 of the tables finished eating and had left. I had to go to the counter and ask for our drinks. When our drinks were finally brought it was not correct. The only time a waitress came back was to set the bill on the table and walk away after being chatty with the people at the other end of our table who had also finished eating. I had to check a make sure we were not overcharged for extra drinks. The final upset was the moment I found a long hair in my quesadilla. I paid the bill and we left without finishing. I think there needs to be some training for the waitresses in hospitality to the customers. A hair I can overlook, At least ask if your patrons are satisfied, or need more to drink. It will probably be a long time before we return here. I hope the staff can do better.

The place is nicely decorated and has a small town atmosphere. It took a while to get seated but Quincy is a nice small town with limited options for breakfast so it was fine. The portions were generous and the service was good. I will definitely go back when I visit next time.

What a hidden gem!! My husband had the Thunder Egg sandwich. He’s still talking about how great it was. I had good ol’ oatmeal and it was cooked to perfection. The atmosphere was nice and friendly. Would we go back…heck yes!!

Not including bars, it is literally the only restaurant in Quincy that I think is worth going to.
The servers are always kind and attentive, the atmosphere is super cozy, the patio is gorgeous (the grapevine trellises providing shade are so cool), and I have yet to get bad food. The sausage and biscuits are honestly some of the best of I’ve ever had. Their deserts also slap, and I am NOT a sweets person AT ALL, their Baker is just a genius.
I would say the prices are the only downside, but I honestly trust that they are being fair and that it is going to the right place because of the high-quality ingredients. Plus, if paying a bit more ensures that they stay afloat through repeated economic crashes, more power to em.
Also, it has a log book/geocache for PCT hikers, great art, and lots of boardgames. Truly an iconic business.
8/10 breakfast/brunch spot.

To be completely honest, I was tired, cold and starved. But the service was just awesome and the food was hot, tasty and plentiful. We brought about 12 riders and they were kind and welcoming.
Thank you

PATTI, MY DAUGHTER AND ABSOLUTELY LOVE YOUR RESTURANT!!! Our only problem, is that we normally come in on Tuesdays, coming from Tobin, down in the Caynon. The past few Tuesdays the business has been closed. I need to inquire….. are you now closed Tuesdays AND Wednesdays?? We miss you and your fun staff.

Atmosphere is great. Our was a busy Sunday so that affected service a bit. Good was okay. Two of us ordered the stuffed avocado dish. However, it was missing the avocado. Not really a stuffed avocado without it. They put some avocado on it but most was not what we expected. Others in the group liked their meals.

This place used to be the best. I went in after not being here for two years. The biscuits and gravy are, or at least were the best. This time I ordered the nachos. The chips obviously came from a bag. The beans were from a can. The onion and tomatoes were chopped into large chunks. It would have been a lot better experience me, the diner, if the veggies were smaller and spread more throughout the dish. This eatery had always been known for its large portions. I was not impressed with the size or price of the nachos. $13 for vegetarian nachos. Nothing else. The only thing that came on the side was a ramekin of thin, flavorless salsa. Everything on the menu has gotten a lot more expensive.
