Reviews
The service truly sets this place apart though. Tommy is incredible – friendly, attentive, and always going above and beyond to make guests feel welcome. His positive energy and professionalism make a huge difference, and he’s a big reason I keep coming back. He would be an amazing manager and is more than deserving of a promotion.
Great food, great atmosphere, and outstanding service. Highly recommend!
ATMOSPHERE:
Located within the Salt At Our Kaka’ako outdoor mall, the corner spot is bright, airy and echoey. Outdoor seating is available. I chose a spot on the second floor loft.
PARKING:
Street or garages nearby.
MENU:
Intimate breakfast menu with something for everyone.
BEVERAGE:
Iced Coffee
Black coffee over ice. There’s a station to add your own condiments.
FOOD:
Havarti Scramble
Nice and light bowl of scrambled eggs that were perfectly salted, havarti cheese and fresh spinach mixed in, and topped with sliced green onions. A slice of sourdough toast accompanied.
SERVICE:
Counter service was immediate and friendly. Place your order, find a spot and the food is brought to you. When you’re done, leave your dirty dishes at one of the stations throughout.
OVERALL:
Nice place to grab coffee and breakfast.
There’s close street parking or parking garage for cost. Atmosphere in the Cafe was clean, and comfortable. I’m a big girl so chairs were comfortable even for me. they have a loft upstairs with seating but we opted for the tables downstairs. There’s also outdoor seating.
Food was tasty and drinks were refreshing. we will definitely stop here again for a morning cup of coffee or to eat. Staff was super friendly and helpful with menu items.
I love when they have seasonal items – (been wanting to try the Caramel Apple Waffle for awhile now)!
In the photos I got avocado toast (which comes w/ an egg) which was super yummy. Friend got the hummus + avocado sandwich (which was super yummy and came with vegetables in sandwich and a little spinach salad on the side). Grandmother got a Belgian Waffle (just asking for strawberries on top) which she really enjoy.
In the other photo I got the Brew Breakfast which was pretty good and my boyfriend got the breakfast burrito which he enjoyed.
(In general, while I’ve always thought their food is pretty good- it’s always been a bit under seasoned for my taste. I do appreciate that they have hot sauce I can use.)
The coffee is pretty standard here- nothing special- gets the job done.
The big thing I love about this place is the copious amount of seating. There’s a lot of seating available inside on the bottom floor as well as the top floor (I was a bit surprised with how little decorated and not vibey the atmosphere is up there though). Just seemed a bit desolate. There’s also a couple seats outside on the lanai-area as well- which is quite nicely shaded and comfy in general.
The staff has always been very lovely here. Super friendly, accommodating to requests, etc.
Parking is available in SALT parking lot and Morning Brew will validate (free under an hour- more than that W/ VALIDATION will be $1).
I was physically ill for hours afterward and contacted poison control out of concern for salmonella contamination, as I had already eaten part of the sandwich and bit into the gecko folded into the egg. It was an incredibly disturbing experience, both physically and emotionally.
To the restaurant’s credit, they responded to my messages, refunded my order, and sent an apology. They also mailed me a $25 gift card and a $24 bag of coffee beans. However, given the severity of what happened—finding an animal in my food, becoming sick, and the emotional impact—it felt like a minimal gesture that didn’t fully acknowledge the seriousness of the situation.
I don’t take writing reviews like this lightly, but I felt it was important to share what happened to encourage accountability and greater attention to food safety. I sincerely hope no one else has to go through what I did.
