Morepork BBQ Kumeu is our newest location. This spot will be serving up the same bbq Auckland has come to love with a few extra new items. If you’re looking for an afternoon to sit outside in the sun while enjoying some bbq and beers with friends, Morepork Kumeu is the place to be. With plenty of space to seat large groups, be sure to pop in with the whole family (we’re kid friendly too!) or work colleagues. We look forward spreading the bbq love to our West Auckland friends and hope to see you soon!

10/10 best BBQ place Ive been to!
We travelled from Rotorua for the day and decided to have a look online for a BBQ place, after a lot of searching online we came across “Morepork”. When we arrived the lady’s at the desk were lovely. We were seated at a booth which was nice, the only thing Id change is the spacing between the booth seat and the table, the space could be a bit bigger. We ordered the “Moreporker” platter with 3 sides: Coleslaw, Fries & Corn bread. The meat was honestly the best Ive ever had! The corn bread and the maple butter is absolutely delicious, the coleslaw was also so yummy! For drinks I got a sweet tea & my husband got a ginger beer, the sweet tea has free refills as long as you keep the same glass and I was more than happy for that, it was very nice and refreshing.
We also got the Pecan pie and I have to say, it was decadent, rich & well balanced!
Overall 10/10. I highly recommend this place if you want quality food, awesome customer service and overall a nice peaceful atmosphere.

Hit Morepork BBQ for lunch today. Our first meat cooked by smoker and it didn’t disappoint. Ribs were succulent and tender. Pork belly slices lip smacking. Great thick cut chips are what you get even though menu reads french fries. Enjoyed it immensely. Staff were welcoming and warm. Atmosphere is cosy. Recommend it.

We had “The Hunter” Platter serves 3 to 4…wow…amazing! Between 2 (islanders lol) we demolished it. Will try the next size up next time “The Moreporker”.

I had high expectations for dinner at More pork, but unfortunately the experience fell short. The presentation of the food wasn’t great, and the portion sizes were smaller than expected. Several frequent visitors we were dining with mentioned that the servings used to be much more generous and that the overall experience seems to be going backwards.
Service was also disappointing. Some of our group waited over 30 minutes just to get a beer, and a couple of people never received one at all despite being ready to order. For a venue of this reputation, this was frustrating.
Overall, it wasn’t the experience we were hoping for. To be honest, we received better service at Wildfire down the road at West Harbour.

First time here. Seen this place via social media. Great food, good service. Decor matches the atmosphere. Ordered the full Monty share plate which was more than enough for 4 of us! Eyes and stomach were bigger then what we assumed we could manage. Plenty of food taken away for re-heat midnight trip to the bathroom via the kitchen.

Came here for dinner in the weekend and wow the food is so amazing! My kids loved it and my son couldn’t stop talking about how good it was and wants to go back again!
Super super yummy. We got the Moreporker platter which was $163 for 2 adults and 4 kids and we smashed the whole thing and was so full afterwards! They also sell prepackaged sausages for $22 which we got a pack of. So total we spent was $185. It was expensive but the experience was good. Would come again if I won lotto lol

Was actually looking for other options but was recommended by one of the staff at one of the wineries.
What turned up is in fact one of the best meal we had in this trip. The smoked chicken is one of the best I have eaten given the juiciness of the breast meat , the brisket literally melts in the mouth. Usually not a fan of pulled pork as it is either too tough to chew or that too much seasoning in it . What we liked is in fact it is not too flavorful yet enough seasoning to make it delicious .

Shop is located on the main Kumeu Highway which can easily be missed, it’s a few metres down from the New World supermarket in Kumeu so when you see that landmark make sure you slow down.
Recommend to book a table as it can get busy on weekends. Service was good and lots of spacing and seating options indoor and outdoor and they cater to both small and large groups.
Price point for food is good and I recommend getting the platter to try a variety of meats. Meat is tender and flavourful and full of charcoal and smokiness. The only thing I didn’t like was the cut of pork belly had way too much fat than meat but I presume some people lile to eat it like that. The sides that come with the platter is also very tasty, especially the cornbread that was very soft and a hint of sweet which paired well with meat and sauces.

Loved our visit to Morepork. Something different but delicious. We were three adults and ordered the pulled lamb, the pork belly, potato salad, deviled eggs, spring rolls, a house salad and the best chips in Auckland, if not the country! The Mac spring rolls were very disappointing, tasteless, wouldn’t recommend these.
The portions were a good size. The salad, though, was big enough for four people! We came home with boxes of leftovers.
The staff was very friendly and we were well looked after. We were celebrating a birthday so we pre-ordered a cake. It was a yummy chocolate cake and our friend was very happy with it.
Only thing I would highly recommend is they need to place big signs on the road on both directions (coming from Auckland as well as coming from Kumeu center) as the entrance to this restaurant is easily missed.

Brisket is wet and soft, so good. All the BBQ was good, the cornbread was legit. Pretty much Southern State USA BBQ. Pricing was great compared to competition. The $125 platter fed 5 with left overs. Worth the drive to kumeu.
