I was searching for a good burger spot in Brightwood. I searched on Google and Moreland’s Tavern was the first place listed in the search results. I went to Moreland’s and was impressed. Upon entering, I was greeted and seated right away by staff. I ordered a regular burger with a salad. My burger was made exactly to my specifications. The burger tasted so good, I did not need to add any salt, pepper or other seasoning to it. My salad tasted good too. All in all, my experience at Moreland’s Tavern was great. I will definitely rate my experience five (5) stars.

Moreland’s Tavern-hit. Like a warm English pub plopped in the middle of town-no frills, just right. Server was sharp: friendly, fast, actually suggested the right stuff. Black bean burger? Life-changer. And the short rib-so tender they’d already pulled it off the bone, no scraping required. Kids meals generous, priced like they like us. Solid, honest, going-back energy.

The food was good. However, in our experience the service was lacking attention and sub par.
The Food:
Mussels in a white wine sauce were fairly good, questionable freshness among a few, but large in size and tasty.
The wings were a little crispy, but had a good Buffalo flavor.
The Lion’s Mane “Crab cake” was a well done version of a vegan crab cake with mushroom. I was surprised with the comparable consistency to a real crab cake.
The Service:
Being in the service industry myself, I give a lot of leeway. However, we were greeted by one server who took our apps and disappeared, then was doing what looked like to be roll ups at the table behind us and stopped serving us to maybe take a break. Another server picked up our table after 15-20 minutes of just waiting to be served/refilled, acted like nothing happened, and finally took our main course order. Very disappointed and unprofessional even if it was a shift change.
One last small note, a full tavern should have something simple like soda guns. I was charged $4 per can of soda with no refills. Seems a bit odd and pricey at a tavern.

We were absolutely thrilled to work with Jess at Moreland’s Tavern for our wedding rehearsal dinner and welcome drinks. Jess was fantastic from start to finish, helping us create the perfect event and menu while staying within our budget. The upstairs of the restaurant was set up beautifully for our party, complete with a photo slideshow of us playing on the TVs, which added a nice personal touch.
The dinner was delicious, and our rehearsal dinner guests couldn’t stop talking about how amazing the roasted chicken was! After the sit-down dinner, Jess and her team seamlessly transitioned the space into a more casual area where the rest of our guests could mix and mingle, complete with an open bar and light snacks.
The bartenders, Jess and Max, were absolute pros—our guests certainly kept them busy and they did an amazing job keeping us and everyone happy throughout the night.
Jess and the team at Moreland’s Tavern made our rehearsal dinner and welcome drinks unforgettable. As our neighbors up the street, we are so glad Moreland’s was a part of our wedding weekend as a favorite neighborhood spot we can revisit again and again. They must be getting a lot of fake 5 star reviews because the food is mediocre, the service abysmal, and the prices have that cute D.C “you know you’re being scammed prices” charm. I got 1 order of mozzarella sticks. It cost $9, for FOUR single pieces. They must be joking! If that’s their cheapest food, and that’s the amount they’re serving, there’s zero way I am going to try anything else. Nice try scammers. Also, everyone’s attitude sucks here, and everyone’s being weird. I tried to pay, I had to ask to pay multiple times, and their manipulative game is try and give me the tip beg receipt only after they deliver the food. Super, super weird. Never going back, please leave D.C

We hosted our wedding “rehearsal”, which was really more of a meet-and-greet, upstairs at Moreland’s Tavern the night before our wedding.
Tony, Matt, Chef Emily, and Jess did an incredible job accommodating our group.
The catering menu was straightforward, easy to navigate, and very reasonably priced. The food was absolutely delicious, and Max, our bartender, was outstanding, his drinks were fantastic, and everyone loved him!
If you’re looking for a great spot to host a private event, definitely add Moreland’s Tavern to your list.

Just wanted to say thank you to Morelands! Stopped in here between Christmas and New Year with our newborn. He’s not had his shots yet so we’ve been bundling him up warm and sitting outside cafes/bars just for some fresh air and to retain our sanity amidst the sleep deprivation.
When we explained to the staff that we wanted to sit outside. The owner, Matt, instead opened up the upstairs bar just for our family. Our first time eating inside a bar/restaurant with our little one. The service was great, the food was delicious, and we felt part of the real world again. And our baby absolutely loved looking at the holiday decorations. Thank you, Morelands! We’ll be back!

If you’re looking for a neighborhood tavern, Moreland’s is your spot. The atmosphere is pure, the service is friendly and responsive, and the menu/food is wonderful. They also have patio seating and an upstairs for football and quiz night.
