We drove from Indianapolis because we’ve heard so many wonderful things about this restaurant and it definitely did not disappoint! This is the best authentic food I’ve ever had! We ordered steak tacos and chicken enchiladas. Both were fantastic! We ended up ordering more steak tacos to take back to Indianapolis with us because they were so delicious. The owners are so sweet and make you feel like you’re apart of the family. Our service was above and beyond. I can’t wait for our next visit!

Alright, buckle up, because if you’re in Seymour, Indiana, and you’re not eating at Morales Mexican Restaurant, you’re doing it wrong. Forget the big, shiny Morales across the street with their bland, Americanized “Mexican” food. If you want real, slap-you-in-the-face, flavor-packed Mexican cuisine, this is the place. And yes, the menu is in Spanish, and no, English isn’t spoken here, but trust me—you don’t need to understand a single word to know what’s coming.

Let’s start with the showstopper: the fried tilapia. This isn’t just a fish. This is a fish with *attitude*. They bring it to your table whole—head, tail, bones, and all—like the fish is saying, “Yeah, I swam around, I lived a full life, and now I’m here to change yours.” It’s fried perfectly, with crispy skin that crunches like you’re eating the world’s most delicious potato chip, and the meat is flaky and seasoned just right. If you’ve never eaten a whole fish before, this is your chance to live your best life. The only downside is that after you eat it, every other fish will just seem… boring.

And it’s not just about the tilapia—everything here is a hit. My wife got the chicken and queso, and I’m not exaggerating when I say it was so good I considered asking if we could just live here. It’s that good. The chicken is juicy, the queso is creamy and spicy in all the right ways, and when you combine the two? You basically enter a food coma of happiness.

But here’s where it gets even better: They have Coke in glass bottles. That’s right—*glass bottles*. None of that plastic, watered-down, sad excuse for soda crap. You’re sipping on a Coke that feels like it was delivered straight from the heavens in a vintage bottle. And if you’re feeling a little adventurous (or, let’s be honest, like you’ve earned it), they’ve got Mexican beers. Nothing pairs better with a perfectly crispy fish than a cold, refreshing cerveza from south of the border.

The vibe here is also pretty damn great. You walk in, and it’s like entering a little slice of Mexico. No one’s here to make small talk or give you the kind of service that feels like they’re trying too hard. They bring you your food, they nod, and they move on. No fluff, just straight-up fantastic food. You’ll find yourself gesturing wildly at the menu because you don’t actually understand it, but hey, that’s part of the fun. They’ll know what you want. They always do.

In conclusion, Morales is the kind of place where you don’t need to worry about fancy décor, Instagrammable plates, or menu items written in English. You just need to show up, point at something, and know that you’re about to eat something that’ll make you question all your previous food choices. The tilapia will rock your world, the chicken and queso will make you rethink your life decisions, and the Coke in glass bottles will remind you that simple things are the best things.

5 stars. Would give 6 stars if they added a taco-shaped throne for me to sit on while I eat.

A lot of locals in the Seymour area already know Morales knows their tacos. However, I’m going to go farther and say Morales may be the closest thing in Seymour to going to a friend or family member’s house and eating. Yes, the tacos are delicious from al pastor to carnitas and you need to try them. However, Morales really shines with their traditional foods such as tamales or chile rellenos. I also recently found out that they’re serving birria tacos, but they’re serving lamb birria which is much more difficult to find.
Overall, Morales may be the best representation of the Mexican communities’ cuisine within the area and anyone who hasn’t tried them is missing out.

I only have ate once there on the back and it was meh their agua frescas cost too much and I asked for a specific dish and they brought me something else. I mostly go there for their fruit Cup. There used to be a young girl who always was on the front and always liked her and her services she always gave me fresh and tasty fruit but now when I go inside there’s no one on the front and I have to wait for someone to noticed me. I been three time and same old lady who attend me doesn’t give me good services and let’s not talk about that fruit. Have to wait more than 20+ minutes just to get a cup of fruit that I’m not not gonna even like *sigh* I couldn’t even finish it cuz and I’m pregnant now so I’m sorry if I want fresh fruit to eat.
