Delicious ice cream and great staff!

We happened across this cute little ice cream shop today and I’m so glad we did. The space is adorable and there were lots of super interesting ice cream flavors to choose from. They very kindly offered samples, which I usually don’t take them up on, but I couldn’t say no this time! Everything tasted great. It’s also very close to Lake Morton for an alternative spot to eat your ice cream. We will definitely be back!

Updating because it’s been a little while. Still delicious, staff are still friendly and helpful. Vibe is welcoming and cheery. I love that we have a local shop with a great product nearby. Still 10 out of 10.
(Pictured two scoops in a cone. Chocolate and mocha chip. Rich and delicious.)

Cute space, delightful staff, and yummy ice cream with a good assortment of flavors.
It’s small but had several tables inside and two outside. It was a lovely evening, so sitting outdoors would’ve been nice.

We loved the aroma of freshly made waffle cones as we entered the shop.

Two seasonal flavors were offered – pumpkin (swirl, I think?) and sweet corn blueberry.
The servings were refreshingly generous, and the waffle cones were crisp and not overly sweet, nicely complimenting the ice cream.
We had heard that the ice cream was kinda soft when it first opened, but that is definitely not the case now. Great texture, creamy, firm, and cold.
10 out 10 would recommend. I look forward to continuing to support this locally owned ice cream shop.

Ice cream addict here. This ice cream spot is great! The service is always amazing. They also got nondairy options available and the milkshakes are the best I’ve ever had. Cute, clean shop that has become my go-to.

Super cute ice cream shop! The decor was adorable and I love how they incorporated the city of Lakeland into it. The ice cream was really good. I had the dairy free chocolate moose and it was perfect! My husband had the butter pecan. Their ice cream is Amish ice cream which is richer and creamier.

Absolutely thrilled to have an ice cream shop this close to Lake Morton—especially one within walking distance from home! Is it going to be a problem? Well, for my self-control… probably. But for my happiness? Not one bit! Great selection, super friendly staff, spotless space, and comfy seating both inside and out. A sweet addition to the neighborhood!

Overall was a decent place. Interior was nice and selection was nice. For what we got I felt like pricing was good. My milkshake had a icy feeling to it and not smooth but the kids ice cream tasted fine and had good texture.

From the moment you walk in, the scrumptious smell of waffle cones just hits you! Mootown Scoops is the best new ice cream shop in Lakeland for everyone This place is as charming and groovy as their staff and name! You’re also invited by the creative pastel interior decor and a variety of delectable sweets – including a warm croque glace! They have flavors and non-dairy options of every kind. Plenty of seating indoors/outdoors, and plenty of parking. Located perfectly, enjoy your treat by Lake Morton.

Additionally, you’re able to try samples from classic vanilla, gator trail, to seasonal mango. Imagine a warm ice cream hug – that’s what a croque glacé is: 2 pieces of soft brioche bread and any type of ice cream + syrup flavor! *chefs kiss* We had one with vanilla ice cream and blackberry syrup. We also tried the strawberry waffle cone and pistachio affogato. 11/10 for all!

The staff and owners are so approachable and welcoming, you just know so much love and passion has gone into this ice cream shop. From small details like sprinkles on the walls to their neon signs and unique local art. Mootown Scoops made us so happy and is absolutely our new favorite ice cream spot!

Lakeland’s newest ice cream shop is officially open, with their grand opening being May 8!

Mootown Scoops is in a fantastic location right off of Lake Morton along East Palmetto Street. It’s across the street from the public library, Lake Morton Black & Brew, and the AGB (aka Polk) Museum of Art.

It’s in close quarters to Misterfish and the Peach House, so there’s activities, food & drink within super close walking distance to then top your time off with some delicious ice cream.

The shop is pretty small, and it got fairly busy when we went so I’m curious to see how the line holds up. The register is closer to the door but you order on the far opposite end, but it’s very narrow so I can see it getting extremely crowded even with a dozen or so people in line.

But now, the ice cream, it was great! I was impressed that they have 3-4 non-dairy options which is more than the average ice cream shop. You can also choose from a homemade waffle cone, affogato, or croque glacé (ice cream sandwich of sorts). The croque glacé is a fun and unique option.

I tried the espresso chip which will satisfy any coffee lover. However, the gator trail is a really popular one with chocolate fudge and peanut butter cups in vanilla ice cream. Oh, and you can also get a milkshake too.

There’s minimal outdoor seating but not much room to add more. You can park on either side of the building or across the street in the library parking lot.
