The bread here has that soft, buttery texture that’s unique to Japanese-style loaves. It’s not too sweet, which makes it perfect not only as a dessert bread but also for breakfast with coffee or milk.

I’ve been coming here since it was called Hippo Bakery years ago. They changed their name to Moose Bakery a few years back, but it’s still the same delicious bakery I’ve always loved.

I used to drive almost an hour just to get their bread whenever I craved authentic Japanese bakery items. But now that I’ve moved closer, I can visit more often — and I’m so glad I can! Sometimes I even stop by the nearby Japanese market afterward; it’s become a little routine of mine.

The texture of their bread is delicate and refined, very different from typical American bread, and that’s what makes it special. Their donuts are so good that I usually end up eating one right in the car. The rest taste amazing after a quick 15 seconds in the microwave.

I especially recommend the breads filled with red bean or the sandwiches with tonkatsu or potato croquette — it might sound unusual to have those in bread, but they pair perfectly and taste incredible.

They also sell small $6 bags of leftover bread from the previous day, but even those sell out quickly in the morning. Everything here is always fresh and made with care. A must-visit bakery if you love soft, flavorful Japanese-style bread!

It smelled so good as soon i stepped inside. I wasn’t plannjng to get any pastries but it smelled so good. I knew i had to try one. I got the cheese bun. It was absolutely fabulous ❤️❤️❤️ My FAVORITE PASTRY NOW!! I’ll definitely come again with my friends. The black milk tea i got was sooooo good too. The interior is so cute as well. I love it!!!

Seeing the cake instantly fills you with a sense of happiness. Each carefully selected large strawberry decorates the cake beautifully. Although the cake doesn’t have overly fancy decorations, once you take a bite, the rich taro flavor inside melts in your mouth. You can truly feel the care and dedication that went into making this cake. Thank you, Moose, for your thoughtfulness and for giving us such a wonderful and happy birthday cake.

I stopped by Moose to pick up some bread to go, and they didn’t disappoint. They had a decent selection of breads and pastries to choose from, and it was easy to get them. Checking out was simple and streamlined, and I enjoyed several of their treats at home. The melon bread is delicious with its crunchy exterior, and the buns filled with red bean paste are tasty and sweet. The curry bread is packed with spices and flavor. I wish there was something similar to Moose on my side of the state, but at least there’s such a great place in Novi.

This modest Japanese bakery may appear unassuming at first glance, but the moment you step inside, the quality of its craft becomes unmistakable. The space is small and understated, yet that simplicity only highlights what truly matters here: the baked goods, which are consistently excellent.

Guests can settle into a chair with a warm pastry and a cup of tea or boba, but the real charm lies in the classic self‑serve setup. Using tongs, you select individually wrapped pastries from the display—each one neatly packaged and inviting.

On my visit, I picked up curry rolls, tuna rolls, and a yakisoba‑filled bun. The tuna rolls were destined for my wife, and judging by her reaction, they were a complete triumph. The bakery also offers online ordering; my late‑evening order was scheduled for pickup two days later, though placing an order earlier in the day may yield next‑day availability.

The experience brought back memories of BreadTalk, a beloved bakery chain across Asia, with its similar blend of efficiency, comfort, and reliably delicious offerings.

Will I return. Absolutely.

Everything was just okay. All the baked goods looked really nice and some are very cute! But I think the taste leaves something to be desired. The tea was tasty but also nothing special. A lot of the advertised baked goods were not there and they also did not have boba ready. Overall I wasn’t super impressed.

This is my go-to bakery for Japanese and Taiwanese desserts. The pastries are always fresh, delicious, and made with great quality. Even if I have to drive a bit to get here, it’s always worth it. I highly recommend this place for anyone who loves authentic and well-made pastries!

This pastry shop is a hidden gem! In the face of new competition, they still offer the BEST boba and pastries around. The boba is always perfect, and their pastries are delicious and fresh. A must-visit!

I adore this place! Let me just say everything I’ve ever had tasted amazing! They always try to keep up with the supply, but I always order ahead to make sure I get what I like lol

It’s authentic, and hands down just the best, the cream cheese anything is my favorite. But all amazing, and always a hit when I bring them for events.

I also love the green tea with fruit in it, very refreshing and so yummy!

They do not disappoint!

Love the variety of pan, it’s so good but you have to go early some of the favorites flies faster. The green tea cream cake it’s delicious. I don’t like so much the taro cake. As for the savory flavors, you can find yakisoba, no so common.
