So on a lark, The wife and I who make a habit of checking out places new to us, decided to check out the moose market deli Cafe in Longview Texas today. Wow $40 for two sandwiches aside and two drinks. First off let’s talk about the sandwiches. I ordered a Reuben sandwich which turned out to be nothing more than turkey processed turkey by the way on a barely toasted rye bread with sauerkraut. It was disgusting. A Ruben sandwich is corned beef folks. The chicken salad that my wife had with gritty. It literally had the texture of grits. The cucumber salad was overly drenched with vinegar. The only thing that might have been decent was the banana pudding. Which we decided actually was tapioca pudding with sliced bananas and vanilla wafers. Again we are adventurous eaters, and we enjoy spending money at local establishments to boost the local economy. But this was a one-time thing I’m afraid of for us at the moose market Cafe and deli in Longview Texas. My advice avoid like the plague

I tried very much to like this place. First visit it was obvious the older lady at the register was in a foul mood, but going back again this week it’s obvious she is just short and rude to most everyone that comes in. Sealed the fate of my visit when, while I was sitting there, she started emptying the tea into a coffee pot and pouring it out. Mind you that I was mere feet away and was drinking tea. And it was over an hour from this posted closing time ♂️
Maybe the regulars here overlook it but I dined in each time and could tell that any new, or younger, customers were also almost stunned by her attitude.
Granted most of the food I had was quite good. Grilled turkey sandwich was great and the coleslaw was also very flavorful.

We walked into what felt like a ski lodge atmosphere with all the moose decor! The smell was delicious with the smiling, welcoming hostess/cashier who informed us of the specials and desserts, all of which are handmade.
We ordered meatloaf, scalloped potatoes, corn bread, and a third side along with a drink for under $13. Everything was served very quickly and hot. My only complaint was that the meatloaf was two fingers wide and about 4″ long, a child’s portion.
I have to say this was the first place I have ever experienced a Van Gogh “Stary Night” hanging in the restroom.
Stop by and give them a try!

Home cooking at its finest! They feature several daily lunch specials. From chicken spaghetti to pot roast to spinach quiche to chicken enchiladas. Their soups are incredible! Don’t get me started on the desserts. Great place to have lunch!

My husband and I love Moose Market and we loved Mama Moose as well. We make sure to eat there to celebrate our birthdays and our anniversary.

Disappointing, overpriced Reuben (that wasn’t even a Reuben) made with Walmart ingredients at best. Maybe other entrees are better, but sandwiches seem overpriced with cheap ingredients.

It’s like eating at grandma’s house. You can choose from their standard but great sandwich, salad and soup menu. Also there are daily specials which are varied traditional classics. What I love is the great down home seasonings. No matter if it’s purple hull peas, lima beans or turnip greens it’s all great. Nothing like the plain stuff at chain restaurants. You gotta come try it…

We ordered Rueben sandwiches and it was a huge mistake. Very thin sandwich on plain toast and made with turkey instead of pastrami. And very little turkey at that. A 5 buck sandwich for 11 dollars. The pineapple orange jello salad was excellent though. Just don’t order the Rueben.
