We went there to celebrate our daughter’s birthday, at her request. We had an early dinner and arrived around 4:30. We were the only ones there. Our server was efficient and the food came fairly quickly. I did notice that the prices in the online menu were significantly less than on the menu we were given at the restaurant.
I ordered the pulled pork sandwich which came with a coleslaw topping and a delicious brioche bun. The sandwich was huge and the fries were plentiful and pretty good. I ordered the original que sauce which came in a tiny cup on the side. The pork and coleslaw were lacking in flavor and needed salt. Unfortunately, there were no condiments or salt and pepper on the tables. I would have asked for more que sauce and salt but we didn’t see our server again for a while.
Our daughter ordered the mango mule but it didn’t have any mango flavor so she might have gotten the wrong drink. She had the brisket grilled cheese. The portion was huge but she said it tasted good but not great. Her side was the cucumber salad and she said it didn’t have much flavor.
My husband got the 1/2 slab of ribs and fries and again, they were ok but not great.
My suggestions would be that they have salt and pepper on the table along with bottles of each of their sauces so that you can try all of them. Also, update the online prices to reflect the true in-house prices.

Just went there today as me and my girlfriend were craving some good BBQ. I highly recommend ONLY getting the meats and none of the sides. The sides were incredibly disappointing. The cornbread was just tiny little muffins of cornbread, and the Mac n Cheese was so, so, so bland! It may not look like it in the picture but it was really pale looking in the container. The ribs are delicious but felt like they might of needed some more time in the smoker. Just really needed more of that Smokey flavor. But it’s definitely moist and the seasoning is good. Not fall off the bone good but good. The brisket was delicious, had a nice moist flavor, but like the ribs I would have desired more of that Smokey flavor.
Overall the meats were a solid 7.5/10, and but the sides are a BIG FAT NO! Save the money and get only the meat

I had a full slab barbecue ribs and my companion had a brisket. It was delicious but on the dry side the meat tasted thready. Could do with a generous bbq sauce. However, the place is nice, the service is excellent and the location is perfect for mobile customers. Parking is a bit difficult .

Overall it was a great experience
The food was delicious, the staff was friendly, a relaxed atmosphere, and clean restrooms.
There was only one downfall. I had ordered a glass of water for my drink. It had an awful taste. I then asked for iced tea. The same taste was in the tea. The bad taste almost drowned out the flavor of the tea.
I would definitely recommend the food. It was amazing! The BBQ sauce is delicious. The baked beans are awesome! The fried pickle chips were lightly breaded. The texture was good. The taste was perfect.

Moontime Smokin Que is a hidden gem of a place in my opinion. It’s located right next to the Crystal Lake train station on the side street.
We tried a couple items which were all very good. For starters smoked chicken wings were very flavorful! Even for health conscious people, they are smoked not fried. We also had a bowl of thier chicken chowder whereby the chicken pieces were smoked and gave a unique flavor to the soup. The corn muffins were ok but could be better.
The beef brisket we ordered by the pound was full of flavor. They smoke all the meats on site and boy are they good. We like that they asked which cut of meat we would like; lean, fatty or mixed. I think it’s good to try both your first time. We tried both and both were very satisfying.
The coleslaw was very good too. It was fresh and a nice change up being a mixed flavor of sweet & tangy. They offer several inhouse made sauces including a new one that is spicy sriracha. It complimented everything really nicely.
We would have loved to have tried desert but we didn’t have room and took some of the leftovers home. If you’re looking for really good traditional smoked bbq and can’t get to Texas then this IS the place!!

This was my first time eating here and I brought my father and my family tonight to celebrate my dad’s birthday and it was wonderful! They did happen to be out of ribs and some brisket which was disappointing, but Gina, our wonderful server completely made up for it! She was extremely personable, quick, and so kind! She was on top of our orders and drink at every turn and felt genuinely interested in our party. If anyone was thinking of giving her a raise- I’d say she deserves one! Gina is the reason I’ll be coming back in the future and recommending Moontime to my friends!

This was my first time, and I didn’t like my food. The brisket sandwich was ok, but the onions tasted a little weird. The BBQ sauce I ordered was the “classic,” but it tasted spicy. The beans also tasted peppery, and my Sprite tasted like faucet water. The place was empty when we arrived, and I felt that the server was rushing everything fromtakingthe order to bring us the check. My food looked good, but the taste was not what I expected. My husband, on the other hand, likes his ribs.

Fantastic addition to downtown. We don’t have to drive into Algonquin or Woostock for BBQ anymore!
Place is immaculate, staff if friendly and helpful, food was insane.
Pulled pork was juicy, with the perfect amount of smoke flavor. Sauce was just tangy enough. The blueberry salsa was heavenly.

I ordered for pick up, Mac n cheese, cornbread, baked beans, 2 pulled pork tacos and brisket Philly sandwich. The only item I liked were the tacos, everything else was very disappointed.
Pulled Pork Tacos with flour tortillas were flavorful, just needed more Salsa with a little bit of a kick.
Cornbread minis were dried. Mac and cheese was bland. Baked beans were just Ok. Brisket Philly was too much, the cheese sauce overpowered the brisket. I’ll be coming back for more tacos. Staff was friendly.

We ordered slab of ribs and pulled pork sandwich with baked beans , mac and cheese and coleslaw. Ribs were good, lots of meat on them and the beans were tasty. But Wasn’t a fan of the bbq sauce . It was almost tart. The cole slaw was not good at all… it was like plain chopped cabbage. The mac and cheese was forgettable.. just not flavorful or cheesy. The cheese curds were a big disappointment… Culvers has better cheese curds… Id go to Texas Roadhouse before Id go here. Hubby liked the Ribs so I gave 3 stars..
