Reviews
Moonie’s Diner is a humble little spot tucked along Main Street in the rural town of West Union. It’s clearly a hometown favorite, as it seems to be one of the only sit-down restaurants in town. The interior is clean but unassuming—think small-town charm meets country-casual. There’s a cozy stone fireplace at the center of the dining area decorated in patriotic red, white, and blue with mini trees, “USA” bunting, and playful Americana touches. A flat-screen TV above the fireplace was playing a weather segment when we visited. Around the room, you’ll find deer mounts, local photos, and framed memorabilia that give it a strong community feel. It’s not upscale or trendy, but it’s got its own rustic charm.

Service: 4/5
Two waitresses handled the entire dining room and did a great job. Even as the lunch rush picked up and the place got busy, they remained efficient, friendly, and attentive. You could tell they were familiar with the pace and regulars alike.

Food: 3/5
The food was average overall—nothing bad, but not especially impressive.
• Cheeseburger w/ Sweet Potato Fries – The presentation definitely missed the mark. The bun was halfway off the patty, and the cheese was completely discombobulated—half on the burger, half melted onto the tray. Taste-wise, it was just okay. The sweet potato fries were decent but not standout.
• Giovanni Sandwich – A burger patty topped with American cheese and Oliverio peppers. It was fine, but didn’t leave a strong impression.
• Mega Club Sandwich – Easily the best of the bunch. A hearty combo of turkey, ham, bacon, a fried egg, lettuce, tomato, and mayo on Texas toast. It was satisfying and came with standard crinkle fries that were cooked well.

Final Thoughts:
Moonie’s Diner is a classic small-town spot. The food may not be anything to rave about, but the portions are filling, the menu has variety, and the service makes you feel welcome. If you’re hungry and in the area, it’s a dependable place to sit down and grab a bite—especially when options are limited.
If you are ever on Highway 50 passing West Union and you looking for a good place to eat! I would highly recommend stopping by and enjoying some delicious food
