Porno bingo they said!!! Well…that’s what we got roped into this time walking into Moondoggy’s. Shoulda known better, but I’m not a noobie here. Well, better that than on the stripper pole in the back! If you are looking for a loud, raucous dive bar in Sarasota with the ultimate in people watching then look no further than this place. It’s in the heart of Gulf Gate area close to Siesta Key and it’s got something for everyone. You see people of all shapes and sizes as well as ages, think 20s-80s! All are welcome and if you actually sit a while and get acclimated, you’ll feel comfortable before long and this rowdy Cheers-like bar will have you in some of the funniest of conversations. To be perfectly candid, my first time there I walked out immediately. But I’m so glad I gave it another chance as I’ve always had a great time. Pablo the bartender is great and make awesome cocktails and remembers us every time. The vibe and atmosphere are perfect. They don’t serve food. Parking is relatively easy and I feel safe walking to my vehicle late at night if I am not Ubering. Note, leave your young kids at home. It’s not suitable. This place is for when you feel like adulting or I mean acting like your kids. Anyway, just give it a try as you’ll likely be back.

I was in Sarasota for 9 days I had a great time at this place. The bartenders were great. The patrons were awesome. And the bar back was even cool. Were im from they don’t even talk to you unless they know you. They have a guy that is 57 years old bartending on Friday nights that is literally the life of the party. From introducing you to people to making sure your glass was always full. I didn’t get down there my last night there but I will be back for the shirt they promised me. Until we meet again stay

Love the bartenders, especially Nick, Alyssa and Pablo. They always make sure to take care of you and make you feel seen. Weekends are definitely busier but it’s always a good vibe. If you’re looking for a dive bar that gives you everything a dive bar can, this is the right spot. Coming from a local this is my go to bar. Love moondoggys!!!!

My friend and I were harassed by a drunk man who was throwing lit cigarettes at us, and when we called the police, the bartender pretended they didn’t see anything even though it was all on camera and they clearly saw everything since they were trying calm the guy down. The cops confirmed there was footage, but the staff refused to cooperate and claimed they didn’t witness it???
Instead of supporting us, the bar kicked us out and “banned” us simply for protecting ourselves. We even filed a police report and were told by the owner that we were welcome to come back, but when we tried, we were kicked out again proving the owner doesn’t keep their word.
This place clearly doesn’t care about women’s safety, or about creating a safe, respectful environment for anyone. If you value your safety or want a drama-free night out, avoid this place at all costs fr

Moondoggies is a wonder. Great COLD draft beer!. The bartenders know who you are and if it is your first time,,, they will ask your name, who else goes there!? Open early, while I have never been open at 7 AM. A former 7-11 owner… just saying. Smoke to your hearts content because they don’t serve food.

I really enjoyed this place it had a very bright, fun and great atmosphere. I liked that there was a good mix of ages for customers. I didn’t score the food because I didn’t have any. I just went for drinks and some fun. I gave the service for stars simply because at least two bartenders and a barback just glanced over instead of asking what I needed. The bartender was very polite, cute and helpful except she made both of my drinks incorrectly the first time. I’ll chalk it up to her being new at her job. Over all I would go back.
