If your debating on checking this place out, just go. There portions are huge and prices fair. Very good drip coffee. Everyone there is so friendly. Service and food is top notch. My new favorite breakfast spot. I love the “bar” seating it is so cute. Truly reminds me of a small neighborhood friendly café. Makes me happy!

This was such a wonderful discovery in Lakewood, WA. We were pleasantly surprised by the generous portions of both the delicious drinks and the vegan options, which were well-priced. The coffee tastes delicious, and you have a very nice selection to try. Definitely a must-visit if you are in the Lakewood area!

I especially enjoyed the lavender latte and the vegan scramble with English muffins & hash browns for brunch

Pretty solid little cafe. Stopped here for breakfast — ordered the tofu scramble, they were out of tofu but offered me some vegan sausage instead which was great. Killer hash browns too.

Update 9/24/25: My husband and I have been back a number of times since my original review. This cafe has great hometown taste cooking with fairly decent pricing. We LOVE the hash browns!!! They are grated thin and fried up nicely crispy. ( My husband twirls them around his fork like spaghetti! ). We have ordered the Eggs Benedict Platter, Meat Lovers Omelet and Waffles. ( If I order the waffle , I usually add bacon and hash browns ala carte). Great selection of teas and coffees. Really delicious!! Highly recommend. Weekends are SUPER busy, so come early or be prepared to wait. This is a cozy little cafe. (There are 9 tables and 5 bar stools chairs at the counter)

I visited this place once before and couldn’t get in which was understandable cuz it’s tiny and I have a fairly large family so understandable. I just recently returned and had to leave again but the waitress ran outside to catch us( which she didn’t have to do) no let’s talk about atmosphere absolutely tiny just not much to the restaurant. Customer service was absolutely the best I’ve had in almost any place I’ve ever been. From the minute the waitress chased us down until we decided to walk back in they treated us as if we were royalty. Hands down the best white chocolate mocha latte I’ve ever had I just feel the food isn’t well seasoned. I feel like a pop of something was missing. The offered to plate my to go food and even bagged it for us I thought that was awesome cuz who really does that. I’m definitely going back again if even it’s just for the the kind of customer service that makes you feel at home.

We must have be late to the party because everyone seemed to know this spot. Our wait was longer than anticipated but it was absolutely worth it! The portions are very generous making it a great value. We each got two meals out of our breakfasts. One order is the BST (bacon, spinach, tomato) scramble with sausage subbed for bacon and a biscuit and hashbrowns. I loved that the hashbrowns were small stings and perfectly cooked. The other order is two eggs, bacon, and home fries. The home fries were good too but I would definitely go back for the hashbrowns! Mimosa and an iced lavender latte rounded out the meal perfectly.

I have never had an eggs Benedict that made me feel like it was ok to smack! This was hands DOWN the best ever!!! I was moaning after every bite. Just disrespectful to my table manners. The service was very impeccable and the ambiance was cozy. This is a MUST try if you come to Lakewood. I’m really mad that I live 10 minutes away because I will never cook Saturday brunch again.

Very good and generous portions. I’m a meat and potatoes girl, but I get the veggie scramble every time because it is just that good. Very fresh ingredients. Small dining area, you may need to wait. Well worth it.

Following another round of PT, it was off to do ranch errands. Per the rules, breakfast had to come first.

Our first stop was tiny, packed, with no open tables, and a line at the counter with people waiting to order, until a table opened, so we decided to come back another time. The next two places, while calling themselves cafes, were drive through espresso stands, which we found irritating and misleading. They may have the best coffee in town, but we will not be patronizing them, based on calling themselves restaurants when they had no seating whatsoever.

One more search and we “settled” on the Moon Rise Cafe. What a gem of a find!!! They are located in a strip mall, at the very south end of Lakewood Town Center, west of the Lakewood PD.

We parked right in front, walked through the door and were warmly greeted by BayLee who told us to pick a table. While small, there were several tables and it did not feel overcrowded.

They serve breakfast and lunch only. They also serve espresso. I decided on a salted Carmel mocha. It arrived in a gigantic oversized real, not paper cup, with a nice topping of whipped cream. Ray went boring and had regular coffee, but it was good too.

We told BayLee it was our first time so she made a few suggestions. I had the meat lovers omelette with home fries and homemade biscuit. Ray had the sausage, onion, mushroom and feta, with home fries and wheat toast.

Our food arrived quickly. It was hot and made to order. The home fries are not out of a bag. They were hand cut, crispy and seasoned well. Their biscuits are gigantic, homemade, light and fluffy. I do a lot of cooking and baking. My biscuits are like hockey pucks, regardless of what I do, but I make killer pie crusts. Go figure.

Both of our omelette were stuffed full of ingredients. They were well seasoned but not over salted or overbearing.

Baylee checked back with us often to make sure all was OK. Our meals were more than OK. She even boxed our leftovers to take home. Talk about excellent and friendly service!!!

This place was quite a find!!! I highly recommend them. We will definitely go back to experience their lunch menu.
