This Cantonese restaurant stands out as the best I’ve discovered so far. The prices are reasonable, the portions are generous, and most importantly, the flavors are simply incredible (平 靚 正). I highly recommend trying the chicken, siew mai, and the claypot rice.

Very Authentic Cantonese Food,
Glad to have found a spot that tastes like food back home (HK). I ordered the Wonton and Braised Beef noodles, Pork Ribs Claypot rice, and Choy Sum(Vegetables). Wonton was big with shrimp and pork in it, you can taste that it’s the freshly made and not frozen ones. Braised Beef was tender and there were many pieces in it. Noodles are just like the wonton noodles in Hong Kong, cooked great, a bit chewy. The clay pot rice was made to order and came burning hot after cooking it over the fire. Can’t wait to come back and try more dishes.

As a devoted dim sum lover, this is my favorite spot in Manhattan. The food is incredibly fresh and authentically made, but what truly moved me was tasting a real Hong Kong-style herbal soup in New York. It’s the kind of soup that takes at least 12 hours of slow simmering to extract the very best essence of the ingredients!

We had a very pleasant experience on Sunday Feb 15 , 2 pm at Moon Kee. It was a party of 10 at one of the round tables, for a birthday. Some people were quite hungry, so we started ordering dim sum right away from the trolleys that were making the rounds. All of the dim sum dishes were excellent. The main dishes that came later were also on point: well cooked, tasty and quite large portions. Very few of us were able to finish our meals; many take-away containers were required. The staff kindly helped us serve out a birthday cake that we had brought in. My only small critique, which brought the atmosphere rating down to 4 stars, was that our table, which was the round one closest to the front door, would get blasted by a cold draft whenever the door opened. I recommend that they install some sort of windbreak entrance as you see at many restaurants.
Overall, a delightful experience, large quantities of delicious food at reasonable prices. Will definitely be going back, and will recommend to others.

Long overdue review. I discovered Moon Kee soon after they opened 2 yrs ago. My BFF lives on 103rd so it’s just 2 blocks away. I can’t believe there is an **authentic** Canto restaurant up here! I grew up in LA, lived in NY for 6 yrs and now in No CA. Yes I’m an ABC, but my husband was born in HK and I know good authentic Chinese food. They even have BBQ meat hanging in the windows and people yelling in Cantonese to each other, haha. Sign of authenticity in a dim sum place. The only “non-authentic” thing? It’s very very clean, no food stains on the chairs or tables but I haven’t seen the bathrooms (I know I’m risking offending some ppl on here…it’s a *joke*). There are always lots of Chinese ppl in here too.

I was hungry after flying in from CA and why spend $7 on a ham and cheese croissant heated in a microwave when you can have 3 gao choi gao (shrimp and chive dumpling) cooked fresh for the same price? Look at the size of the shrimp! And you can sit in a clean booth with a/c (it’s 90 deg outside). They’re really nice and weren’t upset that I just ordered $7 worth of food. Very good service.

I’ve been here ~7 times and everything has been excellent. The big test for me in any dim sum place is the wu gok (taro dumpling). Many reputable places have other excellent dishes but their wu gok tastes of ammonia meaning old taro. Or they’re really oily. NOT here – they’re crisp, made of fresh taro, and not oily at all. The dan tats (egg tarts) are perfect- flaky crisp dough. They just told me they are hand made here and the chef has over 30 yrs experience making dim sum.

I told my friend about this place and now her family gets food from here all the time.

Someone mentioned the prices- ummm look at where they are. And it’s not more than what we spend in SF and some places in NY Chinatown.

It was our first time to dine in here, it was nice, staff are approachable and friendly, the bathroom is clean, its a big plus as always.

My daughter and husband loved the shrimp shumai and dumplings it was made fresh and in house. Its a must try 5/5

The beef noodle noodle soup, it could have been better, i would rate it 3/5

Scallion pancake was a let down 1/5, the texture is off, we were hoping for a flaky chewy scallion pancake and their version is not my fave

Coconut jelly 5/5 my daughter and i love it! Not too sweet, the texture is amazing

Best Chinese food on the UWS. A quick delicious lunch with soup for $15 is a treat… with leftovers! Generous portions. True test is the old crowd favorite of crunchy steamed broccoli and tender orange beef. Perfect. But you will find there are lots of Asian patrons who order their favorite dishes here no doubt because it tastes authentic. Am so glad to be back home in NYC to eat here, try new flavors of dumplings, roast duck and a wonderful array of other dishes from this welcoming place.

Delicious and authentic Cantonese food on par with the best in Chinatown. Very friendly staff, clean and spacious environment.

The Sunday dim sum carts serve up piping hot dishes. Come with friends and family for a feast or 2-3 dim sum dishes for a quick, healthy and delicious brunch.

Dinner with the family – everyone left happy. Staff was friendly and food was brought out fast and hot! Chose a large variety of menu items – dim sum, clay pot, duck – something for everyone. My favorite were the little black pepper ribs (from dim sum menu). The place was packed (with quite a line!) and tons of delivery guys there to grab take out. Wouldn’t think twice about going back again. Pretty sure they’ll take a res for a large group and I’d do that for sure if we were meeting friends. Casual vibe with lots of energy. Shout out to the staff (not that many people but wow do they work the room!) who were able to handle the rush with ease and grace! Fun night out!

This is the best Chinese food in NYC, certainly better than anything in Chinatown. The duck soup is fantastic, as is the beef chow fun and sautéed string beans. In fact, it is the best duck noodle soup I’ve ever had. The restaurant is always clean, bright and service is amazing. Worth the trip from midtown east just to eat here.
