We stopped at Monty’s River Grille in Milford before leaving town, and it ended up being the perfect way to wrap up our trip. The atmosphere is warm and welcoming, with a beautiful view of the golf course that makes the whole dining experience feel relaxed and enjoyable.
We came for lunch with the family, and everything we ordered was excellent. I had the French onion soup and the bang bang shrimp, and both were absolutely delicious—flavorful, hearty, and super filling. You could really tell that care went into the food. The rest of the family enjoyed their meals just as much, and everyone left happy and satisfied.
On top of the great food, the service was amazing. The staff was attentive, friendly, and made sure we had everything we needed without ever feeling rushed. It was just one of those meals where everything came together—the food, the view, and the service.
I’d definitely recommend Monty’s River Grille if you’re in the Milford area, whether you’re looking for a nice family lunch or just a spot to relax with great food and a beautiful setting.

The staff were outstanding—professional, warm, and incredibly attentive. They helped us plan every detail, and the room looked beautiful with inviting décor and an elegant table setting. The view over the course and river is absolutely stunning and made the day even more special.
The food was excellent: beautifully presented, delicious, and plentiful. Our guests raved about the quality and variety, and everyone left happy and impressed.

My husband and I are not members of Great River, however we were able to make a reservation for the onsite restaurant. The ambiance was gorgeous, overlooking the golf course and I was extremely pleased with our entrees. I ordered a chicken dish and my husband the steak special. The service was also exceptional. I can’t wait to return!

We have eaten lunch at Monty’s numerous times and it is amazingly delicious – as well as the service being perfect! From the onion soup to the steak, you can’t go wrong. I would say the only flaw is in Monty’s salad which should really be revised. The shaved butternut squash is really a few ribbons of a tasteless vegetable. Now if you roasted the squash that would add a totally different texture and enhance the salad. I now know not to order that one item. Everything else is perfection. And don’t miss out on their desserts – yum!

Food:
Started off with two non-alcoholic cocktails that hit the spot – refreshing and well-balanced. For entrees, went with the Brisket and Filet Mignon. The Brisket was clearly the star here (seemed to be a limited time offering) – perfectly tender and juicy with just the right amount of bark on it. But honestly, the jalapeño cornbread that came alongside was a lowkey highlight of the whole meal. The Filet was also juicy and packed with flavor, though it came out well-done despite ordering it medium. Wrapped things up with the Chocolate Espresso Cheesecake for dessert, which was surprisingly light and hit all the right notes.
Service:
This is where Monty’s really shines, and it’s all thanks to Theresa. Her service alone bumped this from a 4-star to a 5-star experience. She struck that perfect balance of being attentive without hovering – a true professional. What really impressed me was that she noticed the Filet was overcooked before we even had to mention it and immediately offered to replace it. That’s the kind of service that makes a difference.
Ambience:
The outdoor seating overlooks the golf course and river, which would’ve been ideal, but rain kept us inside. The interior space works well though – tables aren’t crammed together and there’s plenty of natural light streaming through large windows. One thing to note: the restaurant shares space with a catering venue, and there happened to be a wedding reception going on during our dinner. Nothing that ruined the experience, but it did amp up both the noise level and the crowd factor a bit.
Overall:
Really comes out to about 4.5 stars when you break it down. Solid value for what you get – two drinks, two entrees, and dessert came to around $100, which feels fair for the quality and experience. Would definitely recommend giving Monty’s a shot.

Dining Room is a work of art, vaulted ceilings like a cathedral over a long corridor of tables, yet not loud like many places with high ceilings. Bar area is equally impressive.
Lunch was a perfectly built Bacon Blue Cheeseburger on toasted roll served by very attentive waitress.

Thoroughly enjoyed lunch at Monty’s River Grille. Monty’s “Midwestern” Signature Pork Sandwich was outstanding as we’re all of the dishes ordered by the rest of our table. The staff was great and a special thanks to Molly, who was fantastic!
