The staff has that southern charm and friendly like-family attitude. A real treat and feels like home.
The environment is so cozy and wholesome. A real original mom and pop joint.
The coffee is delicious, they brew it slow and keeps it balanced and not bitter.
Chicken fried steak was out of this world. The pancakes are sweet and fluffy.
Absolutely no tricks no gimmicks just old fashion traditional food cooked and prepare to mouth watering perfection.
For the first time in 5ys of traveling to Birch Bay
we decided to try this place and we found out what we been missing in 5ys…..!
Each and very time we even thought of trying this place, the lines and the wait has been incredible long.
This time we where able to get in without any problems and it was definitely worth the wait….!
This place is straight old school shoulder to shoulder dining if it’s crowded, wooden chairs and benches you wouldn’t know this from the outside.
But don’t let the smallest of this place fool you, the portion of the food is extremely large and over the top tasty.
The pancakes were a mixture of unspeakable pure sweetness and the waffles completely out of this world dipped in goodness..
The sides were simply made to order season to perfection, there was enough food for four…
Shawn was totally awesome, making our dining experience extra special from start to finish.
He seemingly was the wearer of many hats as well (waiter cook, and customer service representative) all of those positions were done friendly and professionally.
Thank you Shawn for taking care of us, you sir are definitely a great representative for this little slice of pure heaven…….
Atmosphere was fun, lots of things to check out and enjoy! Inside tables, a bar, outside seating, and containers for carry out!
We planned to come back with another chunk of family, but we ran out of time! Next time, gentlemen!! Thank you, we will be back!!
There’s dining seats at the bar or the interior tables… it’s not too big of an area but that doesn’t bother us. Ages when we were eating ranged from 5 months old to 80+ years old, with kids and folks in between. Not overly cramped, not overly loud… just a nice old school diner type atmosphere.
If you plan to dine here, make sure you arrive closer to 11am than to their actual closing time, which is supposedly 1:00 PM. My party of five showed up at 12:00 PM, a full hour before closing, only to be met at the door with an immediate refusal of service.
We were barely inside before the host hit us with “You know we’re closed right?”
When we pointed out the posted 1:00 PM time, the explanation shifted to “too busy” due to large call-in orders. It seems this establishment prioritizes their ghost kitchen status over actually serving customers who take the time to visit.
They effectively shut down their dine-in operations an hour early for a party of five, which speaks volumes about their commitment to table service.
The communication surrounding this refusal was entirely unaccommodating.
As for the place itself, don’t expect a cozy vibe. The entrance is instantly crowded by the bar, and if anyone is seated there, you’ll barely be able to get a foot in the door. While the exterior might offer a nice water view, the outside surroundings are otherwise forgettable, and the view is certainly not a guaranteed feature from inside.
We’ve tried the food before, and it’s nothing remotely spectacular that would justify enduring this level of abrupt service.
Consider this your heads-up: Service is entirely unpredictable, and the host’s attitude alone is enough reason to dine elsewhere
