Incredible high quality food at very reasonable prices. The speed of service is outstanding, portions are huge, staff is professional and kind and it’s been run by the same family for a long time. Definitely a place you need to try. Get any margarita, the steak/chicken/shrimp fajitas, carnitas, or the chimichanga!

Handheld “Street Tacos” double wrapped are all the rage because of the flavorful choices of meats— My order of Carnitas packed an explosion of vibrant ingredients that with each smack and every bite was over the top. The happy greeting from a chorus of the wait staff made you want to “come on in and stay awhile.” As you ordered the wait staff was efficient, timely and seemed to enjoy the festive environment.

My husband took me and the family here since he has eaten here before and really enjoyed it. I loved the atmosphere and the decor. The food was great. We stopped by during lunch while driving back from Texas, and we were seated right away. It was busy but not too busy. Big portions of food, and it was nicely seasoned. We enjoyed the chips and salsa,but the cheese dip is a MUST!! When we drive through Des Moines again, I will definitely ask my husband to take us there again.

I absolutely love the staff and the atmosphere. Every Monterrey – M`exican establishment that I have ever been to feels like home. I have been in more than a bakers dozen over the years. I am curious if they are all connected to a franchise? I guess I could googled it but I figured that I would try to make it feel like we are having a conversation.

I’ve been coming here for ever since they opened almost 30 years ago. After eating at hundreds if not thousands of Mexican restaurants all over the country, they are still one of the most consistent places I’ve been to. The food is the same every single time and always high quality. The speed at which it is served is mind blowing. And then, to have service that matches this is so incredibly rare!!! Their standard of service is what I judge all restaurants by. I drink water like a camel while eating and could easily only count on one hand how many times I’ve gotten to the bottom before they refilled my glass in the last 29 years. Thank you and keep it up Monterrey!!!

This place is pretty good. No wait during the busiest part of the night on taco Tuesday. Got right in, ordered right away and food was out promptly and that was the best part. The food was not bad, not really good, but not bad. Got the fajitas with steak, chicken, shrimp. The salsa is not that good, but it’s ok.
