The surrounding isn’t grand but it’s energetic as locals come for lunch and business meetings take place while eating some good Mexican food.
I am basing this on lunch as that’s what I had. They had a special for lunch steak or chicken and it had chicken with peppers and onions and a cream sauce. It was good.
The chips and salsa was good too.
The service was good and I liked the small and family owned atmosphere.
The lunch prices are reasonable.

I came here a while ago looking for good Mexican food. We had 2 margaritas and 2 entrees. Was slightly underwhelmed by the food, and the drinks were okay. I appreciated the authentic vibes here but the english menu’s prices were crazy. You’d expect these prices elsewhere but not on buford hwy. Maybe I’ll give it a second try…

Great local Mexican restaurant. Most of the employees have been here years. The tacos are great, but not the best thing on the menu. Order the quesabirria plate something amazing. I ate here for years before trying the birria, now that is all that I order. They have vegitarian dishes as well, but why are you going to a Mexican restaurant if you are vegitarian?

Everything was great! All employees were very polite, friendly, and very attentive. The food was delicious, I most definitely did not have any leftovers! the cheese dip was very tasty. Portions were appropriate, price for food was awesome. The Texas Margarita I had was very good. There was a fully stocked bar there was well. There is a wide selection of hot sauce on every table. I like hot sauce a lot so that made me happy. 5/5 for food, service, price, portion, and selection.

I’ve been coming here for 40+ years. Monterrey has always been my go-to spot for great Mexican food. Today I got the EL Combo for less than $16. It was excellent with so much food and there were seven separate items. The Margarita was potent and delicious as always. I forgot to take pics before I destroyed the food, but it was great looking and delicious. The wait staff is friendly and accommodating. I highly recommend. I’ll never stop coming here. It was $33 for a drink, their huge meal and tip.

Love this place. I live in the neighborhood across the street. But even before that convenience, my buds and I had dinner here most Friday nights. Never really have to wait, the patio is nice, food is great, servers are awesome – Julian even remembers our orders. Only constructive criticism would be that we wish the chips were fresher. Salsa is great. Green hot salsa is awesome. Solid neighborhood joint!! see ya next Friday night

I used to love and frequent this place, but on my recent trip to pick up my to go order I noticed their inspection score is 74. That is very low, a few points away from failing. I just had to cut my losses on what I paid for the food, it’s not worth being sick.
