Monterrey’s new space is absolutely beautiful! We enjoyed sitting in the bar area, and we couldn’t have asked for a better meal here. The food came out quickly, and everything was so flavorful. The birria really impressed us, and the trio of sauces with the chips was a nice touch. Excellent drinks too! We’ll definitely be coming here again!

Food is really good. Salsa and dips that range in spiciness level and flavors. Guacamole is fresh and the portion sizes are generous. The mole on the pollo poblano was rich and dark. The fried fish was crispy and tender. The $7 happy hour margarita was also tasty and strong! Would go back!

New Spot – New Review – Same Food Professionals
New Locations, New Everything, Except for the Food. It’s now Brighter and Much More Lively, due in-part to the new surroundings, I would Imagin. The Taco I ordered came with a nice salad on the side, and the Dishes where far more attractive, definitely high lightening the food upon which they were about to be gobbled up on. I was there at 11:15 am on Day One-(1) , The Bartendress was no Longer Boxed-in, she had ample room to perform her Craft. My Drinks were out in minutes, as was the Chicken Dish I ordered, Courtesy of “Mom” who sported a Lovely and Lively Blue Blouse over Traditional White Apron – very nice touch. I came from The Bay Area California a few Months back, and was taken here my first week in town. I admit, it I was abit of a Tradional Mexican Food snob after 30-some-odd years out west. my first review below, while accurate, definitely needed to be , revised. Monterey in thier new location is the right Flavor, Space, and Pace for the Area and inhabitants it serves. Well played folks 11/25 ~ SDM

The food is decent here. I always want it to have more flavor and taste better, but it’s usually just OK. They do have a brand new chef, so I’d definitely give them a try again. New location looks nice. Nice drink menu.

Hands down some of the best Mexican food around here! You won’t be disappointed. Service staff is super friendly and accommodating. Margs are huge, overflowing and strong for the price! Al pastor tacos were seasoned to perfection. Chicken tacos as well. Refried beans are literally perfect (I’m picky with my beans). Portions are amazing for the price. Free Green sauce and salsa was so good, tasted homemade and I put it on everything. I’ve tried a lot of Mexican spots and this one deserves your business! Must include the property is clean, inside is clean and bathrooms as well. Enjoy!

Good authentic Mexican food. Great Margaritas! The service is decent for a family restaurant but expect to wait a bit for your server during busy times (especially Taco Tuesday). Highly recommend the Pollo Veracruz and the empanadas are bomb. Try dipping them in the chile con queso and feel free to thank me later.

Amazing new space! We dined in on Saturday afternoon and had a great time. The restaurant decor is very nice, fantastic mural at the far end, the plants, tables/booths and the lighting was all really well done.
Food and drink were outstanding. Servers were all so very nice and helpful. Drinks came out super fast and were well made. Lunches were fresh, hot and full of flavor. Pricing is very reasonable and I know this will be a restaurant we will want to come back to many times!

A really super cute spot! Hand crafted fresh Cucumber Jalapeno margarita was delicious. Food was all so fresh! We will definitely be back.

First time we ordered take-out at Monterrey at their new location on North Main. The person on the phone took the order correctly as repeated it back at the end. When we picked it up they were very busy and behind schedule, so we had to wait an additional 15 minutes. The order was not correct- one entree was missing, and 3 of the others were all not as ordered. The steak and chicken in the tacos was grizzly. On top of it in looking at the receipt I was overcharged. So disappointed. Taking this as ‘a bad night’ I still gave it 3 stars because the empanadas and churros were very good— and for all the years on Riverside Ave where we enjoyed the food (& drinks). Unfortunately we will be hesitant to return. We see this so often, restaurants move and the food/service goes down. Hope its a fluke!

The new space is beautiful and the servers friendly and attentive. We had the shrimp enchiladas and the chicken fajitas, which were excellent. Great flavors and fresh ingredients. The margaritas were very good also. I’ll be back!
