Excellent Caribbean/American food in a great location in Excelsior. This spot has a nice menu with something for everyone, and they have a good happy hour with discounted drinks and apps from 3-6pm. The food was excellent and well-balanced. The pork sliders, jerk wings, Jamaican oxtail, and g.o.a.t. salad were well seasoned and prepared, and a great value especially for the location. In the evenings there is music and dancing, which I’ll have to come back for.

Wow. The best restaurant in Excelsior! The moment I walked in, I felt like I was in Caribbean. Delicious food. Their jerk chicken wings are some of the best I’ve had. Their ribs are so tender and delicious, you won’t be able to stop eating them. Service was as great as the food. Do not miss out.

Have been here twice since they’ve opened. Was able to get seated immediately each time. Incredible service and food was flavorful. I had the shrimp curry the first time (amazing!!) and the goat curry (subbed pasta for caulirice – spicy and yummy) – both were recommendations from the server we had the first time I stopped.
The menu had a nice variety of classic American food and some more unique items. Love having this restaurant in Excelsior! Will def be back!

I just had the most incredible dining experience at MontegoBlu! The food was absolutely amazing—every bite transported me straight to the Caribbean. But what really set this place apart was the service. The staff went above and beyond to make us feel at home, and the owner was unbelievably kind, even giving us sneak peeks of some upcoming dishes for free!
They also had a fun game to keep our kids entertained, which was a huge plus. My wife, who is due any day now, tried the “Labor Burger”—we’re hoping it works its magic soon!
All in all, this place is a gem. If you’re looking for great food, outstanding service, and a welcoming atmosphere, I can’t recommend MontegoBlu enough. We’ll definitely be back!

Tried this restaurant for the first time over lunch today! The tropical vibe was lovely, and we definitely didn’t feel like we were in MN anymore!
They have an extensive menu (including many options for kids), and even offer GF buns for burgers and sandwiches. We ordered the coconut shrimp appetizer, the Subourbon burger, and the jerk chicken sandwich. All of the food was excellent, and we saw many other things on the menu we’re excited to try next time.
Parking was a bit of a challenge due to the next door construction, but that should improve once that project wraps up.

Be sure to check your tab carefully! The server added several drinks to our bill. We will never go back. Our group of four started with several cocktails and then finished with a couple of beers each. The bill stated said cocktails, plus 27 miller lites. Not a chance. She had the audacity to argue that we’d each had 10 drinks a person over a 3 hour period. NOT EVEN CLOSE.

2024 UPDATE: we’ve been here multiple times a week over the past year and everything has just gotten better and better. Lotta new things on the menu and some killer brunch choices now on Saturday and Sunday. Awesome happy hour with good prices and portion sizes. If you don’t like spicy food, there’s more than enough choices of traditional American fair. . There’s a great private event space for parties and now they have live music and traditional and electric pool tabs along with a video game for kids to sit and play it in an outdoor tiny sandbox. Parking is super easy on the street or in the lot next-door or behind the restaurant. . 2023: The food here is outstanding, and we know our stuff. We have been importing products from Jamaica for 18 years to make authentic Caribbean food. We sell to restaurants and chefs and customers all over the country. The goat rigatoni is excellent. The beef patties I don’t believe our in-house made yet

Stopped in for Nachos and stayed for First Friday Salsa which was in a back room. Great music and food. There is currently road construction so parking can be tricky but worth the walk. In the main eating area was one style of music at the bar and in a back room was salsa and bachata. Both had dance areas. Highly recommend for food and dancing.

The food I actually received (Door Dash) was good. That’s why 2 stars instead of one. The Montego Blu Jerk Wings came with no sauces (I ordered signature sauces). The rice did not come with any beans despite being described as “beans and rice.” Definitely not worth $97 for what I actually received.
