Finally found a more authentic Mexican restaurant. Blink and you will.miss it. Across from Murphy gas station. Went on a busy Friday evening, we were seated quickly and drink orders taken promptly. We placed our orders and the food came out promptly, one order was incorrect and we had to wait for the correct order. The guacamole is something but it is NOT guacamole. Where’s the lime. Tomatoes, cilantro, salt and pepper?? It was not edible. The salsa came in a vase like bottle. Great, but could not pour. It was ok.
The brown parts of the Avocado on the dishes should be removed prior to serving. No one is going to eat that, just remove it in the kitchen. Presentation is everything.
Prices were affordable, portions were good. The sweet plantains are cut rather thick and seem to be deep fried in the same oil as everything else. That is a NO.
The cheese dip was thinner than I have experienced.

My husband & I got to West Jefferson at 8:30 pm last night. We looked for open restaurants and this one popped up. We get there and notice they are closing early so we say oh we can go somewhere else. They insist that they can seat us then we sit and they had mopped next to us & 2 other tables. The smell of fabuloso was strong so we asked for our food to be to go. We ordered a margarita which was not good & a beer. We take our food as we are leaving the man at the host stand who was nice said awww you decided to get it to go and we said yes the smell was strong. I wasn’t going to write a review but my 3 tacos all different meats were extremely salty & hard to eat. I was so hungry & staying in a hotel kinda had no other option. I had just worked a 9 hour shift then driven 2 hours from Charlotte to then be so disappointed at the end. Luckily the restaurants & coffee shops we visited the next day made up for the West Jefferson experience that had a rough start.

I’m from Texas but live in New York now. I have not had truly authentic and tasty Mexican food since Texas. That is, until tonight! I was not at all disappointed. Everything was absolutely delicious, and the prices were perfectly reasonable. The staff were friendly and seemed happy, as did the ogher patrons. The atmosphere was comfortable and upbeat. I do not have a single complaint honestly! And that truly is high praise from someone with such specific and high standards.

We arrived with 3 hungry boys and had chips and salsa on our table within minutes. Food was really fast too with great portion sizes. Boys ordered combination dishes and my husband and I shared the fajita plate. We loved the food. Authentic, delicious and affordable. Will definitely return next time we are in town.

BEST OF THE BEST! Since moving here from Florida this is the best Mexican restaurant we’ve been to! We spend a lot time traveling and hiking and have been all over NC, and VA from the smokies, over to the piedmont and way up into West Virginia… even when we’re hours away, we will wait to eat just to come here. The prices are outrageously affordable and the quality is consistent every time. The staff most of all is outstanding! Friendly, attentive, and fast! There’s absolutely no reason you should hesitate to come here. Thank you guys for being our go-to spot! (Their margaritas are unmatched!)

Best fajitas in Ashe county! The vegetarian fajitas had squash, broccoli, and cauliflower in addition to the regular fajita veggies, which most places dont have!
Giant portions and amazing flavor. Their sauces were also on point. Ricardo aka Richie the trainee emplyee was couteous, attentive, and willing to learn.

We love coming here. The service and food are excellent. Grace is my go to waitress. Such a sweetheart. The staff is amazing. They all help each other out.
I had take out tonight with the spinach and chicken quesadilla. I called a few times and no answer and that can be a great sign. When I got through it was a 10 min wait to pick up my order. When I came the restaurant was full with many to go orders waiting as well. My go to!! I had a long day and you gave me that happy place.

It’s been quite a while since we stopped in for a meal. Boy, were we glad we did today. The food was very, very tasty, and the portions were quite generous. The chips and salsa were better than most offer by leaps and bounds. The daily lunch specials are a good bargain nowadays. All of the staff were cheerful and busy. Our waiter (Daniel) was exceptionally good. He was so very attentive and good-natured. We thoroughly enjoyed his assistance and his sense of humor. Though a bit worn and outdated, the place was clean and smelled fresh, too. We will visit more often and encourage others to go.

I’ve started going by here every few weeks for either soft tacos or wings (yes, seriously!). Takeaway orders come out *ridiculously* quickly, dine-in service is always friendly and quick, everything we’ve had from there has been yummy.
The only criticism I have of the restaurant isn’t their food, it’s their parking – but that’s not their fault because they share the building. Plenty parking is available but you may have to walk a little – certainly not enough of an issue to dock them a star and not enough that I don’t go by there when I’m in a rush to get home
