Omelette, cheddar very good, cooked perfectly and lots of cheddar. Home fries cooked “good” not overcooked not undercooked, perfect. Thick rye toast and really good coffee. Staff was down to earth, kind, nice people. Sister had the pancakes, good, nicely cooked, not dry. $20 for 2 people, good prices (overtipped our server, she was so very attentive) and we always take care of our servers

Our waitress was the truth, originally from RedHook Brooklyn (i spent time there in highschool)! What a shocker in a Montclair diner haha lol but she Gave us the best food suggestions. She had a super fun personality even though she was the only one on staff for a Saturday Night. She held it down! And the fried chicken was amazing. Definitely going back!!

I recently had the pleasure of visiting Montclair Diner for the first time with a dear friend for lunch. Before my visit, I read several reviews, and honestly, some of the negative comments almost deterred me from going, fearing disappointment. However, I’m so glad I didn’t let that happen, as my experience was, by far, a great one!
From the warm greeting at the door to the nostalgic old-school diner ambiance, everything had me eager for what was to come. I ordered the “California Triple Decker” on whole wheat with fries, and wow, it was absolutely delicious! I even have leftovers today and am looking forward to indulging again.
I’m definitely looking forward to returning and trying something new. But for now, I think I’ll have to order that triple decker again because it definitely had me in a chokehold, lol.

Went to this diner for lunch with two others after church today. The first thing that I ordered was a lemon and ginger tea with honey. When the cup of water and tea bag arrived, the water was lukewarm. The people with me also ordered hot drinks which were also lukewarm at best. I initially ordered pancakes and sausage, but changed my order after the server raved about the seafood lasagna. I, and my stomach, wish that I’d stuck with the pancakes. After just a few bites of the lasagna I started sweating. The dish wasn’t spicy, but definitely over seasoned. I could not finish the food because of the over seasoning. My stomach was totally upset. I will save you further details, but you can use your imagination as to how that turned out. The only person that enjoyed the meal was the one who ordered the pancakes. Ido not foresee a future visit.

If you are looking for a great place to eat breakfast, look no further. The Montclair Diner is a hidden gem. It’s been around for a hundred years. The place is spotless and the team is extremely friendly. I had a delicious feta cheese, tomato and spinach omelette. The home fries were crispy and perfectly browned. The coffee is literally bottomless. Your cup will never runneth empty. I just cannot say enough of these things about this wonderful place. Treat yourself to a great meal today. I came in with a party of four, and while it’s standard for restaurants to bring out all meals together, I waited over 20 minutes after everyone else had been served to receive my food. By the time my dish arrived, the rest of my group had already finished eating.
To make matters worse, I ordered the Mediterranean Chicken Kabob but was served what looked and tasted like a stir-fry—there was nothing skewered, grilled, or remotely Mediterranean about it. There was no charcoal or smoked flavor, and the presentation was completely off from what was described. We were the only ones in the restaurant and he also forgot the soup that should have accompanied the meal.
The soup was brought out later, however, when I politely brought up the issue regarding the meal with our server, he simply apologized but made no effort to correct the situation. That’s not the level of service guests should experience.
I genuinely hope the restaurant takes this feedback seriously. Misrepresenting dishes is misleading to customers, and poor service only adds to the frustration. I suggest revising the menu to accurately reflect what’s being served and training staff on how to better handle customer concerns.

I decided to stop by this diner to check it out due to the reviews. I was met at the door with so much warmth & welcomeness. I ordered the pork chops, baked potato, salad w/broccoli (overcooked) as well as a fresh lemonade with peach flavoring.
The salad was good, the lemonade was amazing but the pork chops were extremely dry, overcooked and served in a soup of grease. The wait took quite some time. I may stop by again and try breakfast…I sure hope it’s better.

We called and ordered take out. Part of the order was disco fries (fries with gravy and cheese) and meatloaf dinner. The meatloaf dinner was supposed to come with potatoes, vegetables and soup or salad. I opted for the beef barley soup. Soup was ok…no beef to be found. I did not receive the potatoes or vegetables. Also, the meatloaf was not what you would expect from a diner…it was thinly sliced and tasted like they took slices of their gyro meat and put gravy and mushrooms on it. Do not recommend. Disco fries were good until I found a piece of plastic halfway through (photo included). I’d be wary ever ordering from them again.

Came here on a week night at 5:50pm. The hostess/waitress was weirdly rude the entire time and kept reminding us the kitchen closed at 6:30 from the time we walked in. She clearly didn’t want to work any more, and whoever was cooking in the back phoned it in as well… grilled cheese was literally a slice of American on bread, kids meal didn’t come with fries even though the menu says otherwise, that kind of thing. I came here once before on a Saturday morning as well and it was solid…but when management isn’t there, the kids act up.

Ordered breakfast through Doordash and was extremely impressed by how hot the food was when delivered. And the food was not greasy! The sausage links were still crisp! The diner followed directions when I requested my fries to be lightly cooked. And the hash browns were perfect! Hands down I would order from here again!!
