My wife and I just had lunch for the first time in 10 years at Montano’s, the iconic Belen restaurant on Main Street. It was just as good as I remember all of those years ago. I had the shredded pork burrito plate. The burrito was spectacular and the beans and rice were FIRE! Service was warm and friendly. This is not a fancy place, but if you want authentic New Mexican food at reasonable prices, you should check this place out!

The food was good the rice reminded my husband of uncle Ben Spanish rice ? I really enjoyed the refried beans and the beef was really good. The chilie rellenos were good also it’s a good place to stop by for a meal, after driving all day.

I love Montanos in Belen. The Beef Red Enchiladas plate is so delicious. They are the best in Valencia County. Their sopapillas are large. I give 10 stars to the cook and the service.

I’m not sure what happened to this place after Mr. Montana passed but wont be going again. first, although the waitress was nice enough, she wasn’t very attentive and kept forgetting what we asked for, more napkins, coffee creamer etc. I had to ask for the creamer after she brought my coffee, twice! The coffee wasn’t even freshly brewed, it was instant! Gross….we took the grandkids who usually order pancakes, the one and only breakfast meal they offer is the huevos rancheros, period. So we just settled for rice and beans.Rice was super dry, beans were good but kids took a couple of bites of that, then they were done. All that mediocre food and service cost just shy of $100! Needless to say, kids were still hungry after we left, my husband wasnt satisfied because he didn’t get his “chile” fix, because the chile didnt have heat or flavor. The sopapillas could’ve been easily replaced with a slab of bread.

This is a classic “joint”, Chicos tacos or Pancho Villas come to mind as a point of reference. Abdovada was was awesome and, as a lover of NM Red this is top tier. Sign says they have been around since 1983, so clearly doing something worth coming back.

Saw the waitress picking her nose well touching the food with out gloves think I’ll start making my food at home at least I not it be clean cuz here you’ll be over charged for dirty food you might tast something bitter

Staff were very friendly. The prices were very over priced for what you get. Drink and meal (ala cart) came out to $20.00 a person before the tip and service was so so. Food was okay.

My wife got a enchilada tray and coke and extra chili they charged her 6 dollars for a coke and 4 dollars for chilli on the side that was less then half full and the food was gross she didn’t finish it this play will over charge you if you don’t ask for your total last time she will order her gringas is better then do business right this place use to be very good but some how went to shit wen the owner died
