Our group enjoyed our dining experience here. They had tasty beers, delicious food and friendly service. My only complaint was that my order of medium rare steak came out super rare, more so than any other place I’ve ever eaten. I could have asked them to cook it a bit longer but didn’t want to make a big deal out of it. The atmosphere was definitely cool, wish I could have eaten inside but the patio wasn’t bad. I would recommend this restaurant to anyone passing through town.

Amazing food and great service!
This restaurant is an incredible representation of Western cuisine. Everything we had was fantastic…we just regret not being able to hold dessert. Bison potstickers were amazing, the meatloaf and veggies were about the best I’ve ever had, and the burger was great too.

Stopped in after a long day at touring Yellowstone in a snow coach. And let me tell you what a nice surprise. First we got the French onion soup which was different than the many times I’ve had this in my life. Super delicious and unique. Then I had the northwest pacific wings with Asian sesame sauce. Really good and it was a very nice portion. Can’t wait to come back again.

What a fantastic place for good food! The Monarch Elk Burger was phenomenal. Their fries and bison potstickers are really great too. I enjoyed the Huckleberry Cider on draft.

We were in Bozeman just for the night and decided to try Montana Ale Works after seeing the reviews and also having it recommended by our hotel. I was floored when we walked in; the place is huge and really well designed with a great vibe.
As for the beer, I only tried one of the IPAs (the lower ABV, Patio Pounder) and really enjoyed it. I’m guessing the rest and some of their more notable IPAs are equally as good, if not better.
For dinner, we tried the bison potstickers to start, and the bison patty and steak tri-tip for our mains. The mains were quite good and the potstickers were ok as well. I just thought there was too much sauce poured over them. If I was to order again, I would ask for the sauces on the side as an option for dipping instead.
But overall, it’s easy to see why this place is such a popular spot in Bozeman, and I would definitely return if I’m ever back in town.

Went for dinner with a group of 6 from work, based on the recommendation from the hotel. Haley C, was our server and she was great! The entire staff at the restaurant was very friendly, attentive, and always smiling. Definitely a great place to have dinner.

A hotel staff recommendation led us to Montana Ale Works…their words, “there is no better place in town.” Decor and atmosphere are quintessential Bozeman. The staff were amazing and very friendly. The beer served is predominantly from local breweries…they even have a unique private-label bourbon from a local distillery…great for making a Paper Plane.

Popularity brings crowds…please understand that. There were a lot of people when we were there…typical 30-45 minute wait, bar full, you get it…but the bartender told us it seemed slower than usual for a Friday evening. The wait is worth it! Please try to have faster cocktail service for people waiting for their table….will keep people happier waiting on their table while MAW makes more money.
The Pot Stickers appetizer was really good. Each of our meals were really good, from different burgers to the rueben.
Our first time there will definitely not be our last…looking forward to many more great food offerrings and beverages there.
To quote Nanga Eboko, “We had big fun there!”

First time here, great atmosphere and decor. We sat at the bar, and the service was top notch, fast, friendly and fun! We ate lite, just ordered the Asian Salad and a few beverages. Unfortunately only in town for one night otherwise this would be a go to regular place.
