4.5. Great food, awesome tap list. Came here on a rainy Friday night and had to wait about 25 minutes for a table. It was definitely worth it! We had the duck salad sandwich which had some of the best tasting duck around. Frog legs were tender with a crispy skin. We also had the mussels, which were good, although not my favorite. I love the diverse tap list. Beers were a tad expensive, but I thought it was worth it for the varieties I’ve yet to see anywhere else. Would definitely return!

Never been to Monk’s, but I understand it is a staple of Philly. Food was great – we had several salads, mussels, and their cheese plate while we enjoyed a few tasty beer selections. Everything we had was fresh, flavorful and truly delicious. They also have an extensive number of beer options, as well as non-beer beverages, too (I’m pretty sure – but we really focused on their beers). The service was excellent – our server/bartender took very good care of us, and helped us with recommendations of beers to try based upon hearing those that we enjoy. Would highly recommend to anyone who really enjoys craft beers – they have a lot of options to try. Ask for their Beer Bible for some light reading.

Fine spot, polite staff. It would be an average “3”, but their global beer selection (while insanely expensive) was impressive. Five versions of their burger. My only complaint was the burger was significantly smaller than the bun (a good burger needs to be proportional to what it’s sandwiched in).

4.5 stars … This was an interesting place. Server was excellent. My first taste of an sour ale which was very good. I had the Cheesy burger. The bun was good but bigger than the burger which is why the 4.5 stars rating. The party was tasty but too much bun. The fries are great and love the mayo based doing sauce.

Great Belgian style cafe/pub. They have a front and back bar and dining room. The back is smaller. Excellent food. Mussels were very delicious!

Monks is one of those places that does the term “a hole in the wall” justice. It’s tucked away, unassuming, unpretentious, and you have no idea to amazing food and drinks that await you inside. My husband and I had 3 different beers a piece. We got the frog legs, cheese platter, mussels and Pom frittes. Everything was great. I could tell the waitstaff genuinely liked working there. Everyone was happy, no one was running around stressed out. Prices are super reasonable too, just an all around gem of a restaurant.

Only stopped in for drinks, so I cannot comment on the food. We sat at the back bar, tucked down a few hallways. The back area is pretty cozy and definitely has a different vibe than the front bar featuring a large window and lots of natural light. They have a good tap selection of hard-to-find beer and a deep selection of bottled Belgian beer. Our bartender was friendly and attentive. I would recommend this place for any beer lovers in the area!

One of Philly’s legendary spots and it did not disappoint! No reservations but we got there early and got seated. Server was awesome and definitely a beer expert! Food was absolutely delicious. Short rib app – very good, liver app (amazing), mussels and burgers were perfect. Looking forward to returning next time we’re in town.

A hopping place! Great selection of draft beers from Vermont (Hill Farmstead) and Maine (Oxbow), in addition to Belgium. Mussels and frites in pots very tasty. Had to request more bread and menu descriptions of some beers were not complete or accurate. A saison was not labeled as such on the menu; just that one word would have saved us $8 and disappointment.
