I’ve been fortunate enough to have great sushi from Okinawa to Tokyo to Hokkaido. I’ve had great sushi in Miami and LA and Napa Valley. None of those meals can surpass the experience of Sushi Monk. Calvin is a remarkable sushi chef!!! He is a treasure for southwest Ohio. If you enjoy sushi and you haven’t been to Sushi Monk you are cheating yourself. Go there soon.

Seemed like a nice family restaurant. When I say family, I mean the staff seems to know everybody that eats there. It’s a very relaxing atmosphere. I had two rolls. They were both excellent. Lava roll, and a Spicy tuna.
The Lava roll was absolutely excellent. The deep fried crispy crust on the roll made it perfect. I’m not normally into the cooked rolls, but this one was great.

The food is consistently delicious. The service is inconsistent- our last visit we we’re seated, given glasses of water, and then ignored for 45 minutes. I watched other tables get seated and served while I fiddled with my empty glass. Once we started getting service, it was excellent, but being forgotten by the staff for my birthday dinner made me sad.

Got the tonkotsu Ramen. The only thing it came with for takeout was a few strips of seaweed, noodles and half a container of broth for $13. Every single other item was an add on purchase, totalling more than $20 for crab stick, pork belly, and an egg. Not a great value, but the broth was flavorful and good. Pork was also well done but the egg was very overcooked.
Also ordered the fried fish cake appetizer and was presented with quarter sized over cooked fish cakes. Very disappointed with the texture, taste, and quantity for $8.
