MONDO’S is very good!
The food is delicious. We enjoyed the prosciutto wrapped artichoke hearts. The chicken parmesan and sausage with pasta were great.
The atmosphere was comfortable and clean.
Our server Eric was excellent and very attentive.
***This was our first time dining here. We were informed that they had just reopened after renovating. THE MENU is very scaled back from the menu you see listed here.

Loved the renovation updates! The pizza has been phenomenal. My only critique is that the pizza menu changes regularly. Staff were very accommodating though, in allowing us to custom order a veggie pizza when one was not on the menu. Pasta is amazing! I got the penne marinara. Wish with all my heart that the pomodoro would return to the menu, because it was a superior dish and freshly made. A pasta primavera would also be a delightful addition, but you can add asparagus or sautéed mushrooms. Will go again!

We have been fans of Mondo for quite some time. We have been anxiously awaiting their reopening after a major renovation. We came in tonight and were impressed with the new decor. It is very modern and sleek, mutch more wide open than the previous layout.
I got the chicken parm and subbed the marinara with spicy vodka sauce. That was the move. It was really good. I will sub the spicy vodka for every dish when I come back. So good! My wife got penne with picatta sauce and she added chicken. It was so light and the sauce was silky.
Our waiter Jacob made us feel like we were old friends. We talked extensively about the renovations and the menus.
The food and the service were top notch. In my opinion the best Italian in Charleston.

It was an amazing experience! The staff was fantastic—from the host to the bartender to our server. I had been told to go here for the last three years, and I finally had the opportunity to visit. It absolutely lived up to the hype. I will definitely recommend it and will be coming back.

As a James native, THEY HAVE GONE COMPLETELY DOWN HILL. We’ve eaten here about 13 times. Some have been better than others, but we won’t eat here again. Here are the factual details of what happened tonight:
1. My daughters pizza arrived before we even got our drinks and even GAVE our own order (yes THAT long before the waitress came back to the table)
2. The drinks that we received from the high school bartender were so incredibly aweful that we could not physically drink them. I sent my mine back and my husband just didn’t drink his after we decided it would be rude to send both back.
3. Laughably, the beer that he ordered never even arrived.
4. One hour and 10 minutes after we sat down with our five year old we still had not received our food.
5. They comped my daughters cannoli (which we order to placate her) if anyone cares. We don’t. We understand bad nights, this is a pattern.
6. “Local shrimp” tasted like frozen key west pinks you buy at Publix (see photo of my 23 dollar salad which I had to get to go bc I could not physically sit there any longer)
7. Spent 117 and didn’t even eat our food due to the fact we had to get it it to go.
8. Harlow, the James, Edison, Crust…Thanks for your service- we love ya’ll.
9. Bye bye Mondos.

This dinner definitely hit the spot for my entire family after a long day of traveling. Although we wish we could’ve received quicker service throughout our time here, we still thoroughly enjoyed the food. I even had enough for leftovers.

I have had the pleasure of dining at Mondo’s over 25 years. Last night I dined with 2 girlfriends at the newly renovated Mondo’s. The owners, Chris and Lisa, designed a totally new and inviting restaurant. The bar that seats 19 is beautiful. The vibe and noise level is perfect. The energy it conveys is amazing and the spacing of each table offers privacy. The menu is similar to previous menus but the addition of wood fired pizzas has been added. Our cocktails and appetizer arrived in perfect timing. We enjoyed different entrees including lemon piccata pasta, chicken Parmesan and a Caesar salad with the freshest blackened Salmon! Dinner was topped with celebratory Cannelloni! I can’t wait to return to Mondos! I compliment Chris and Lisa on their endeavors to create another fabulous restaurant with excellent staff and food offerings. What a success and treat for James Island!

I’ve heard about this place several times between my dad, step mom and boyfriend. Well after all these years and a remodel later I finally got to go and boy did it not disappoint! From walking through the door to the welcoming atmosphere, busy Tuesday night chatter I felt like I was home. The menu is simple, but delicious. Bonus points for them actually having NA wine! Kelly up front was so nice and welcoming with a warm smile. Lisa the owner is just the sweetest. Coming from north mt pleasant, I will most definitely be coming back. Mondo’s is tucked away in the corner of this little James Island shopping center. The café lights bring warms to the outdoor space, perfect for an intimate friend or date night.
This time was a Bestie friend dinner day, and we opted for the outside bar. The staff was extremely helpful, managing the bar patrons and making us feel attended to with checkins.
I personally enjoy the outdoor eating experience the best (when not buggy). The atmosphere takes me to Europe and is just the right volume for good conversations.
Ever since I’ve tried the chicken marsala I’ve not ordered anything else! The flavor is amazing! If you choose to add a meat or chicken know that they are all great options and cooked perfectly. The grilled, blackened, breaded, chicken or all cooked juicy and to perfection.
