Absolutely the best authentic Italian food in the local Joplin area. Wonderful Italian family from NY have brought their recipes to the 4-States. Coming from a big Italian family from here in SE Kansas I’m pretty picky about my grub. Monda’s Alfredo was as good as my sister’s and to me that’s the gold standard. Their NY style pizza was to die for. Crust was perfect with just the right amount of chew and crunch! Wife had the penne w/ vodka sauce which was equally impressive. Their desserts were amazing as well. Wife had the cannoli and I had the pineapple upside down cupcake. This will be our new go to when we are in Joplin.

We had been hearing good things about Mondino’s and we were not disappointed! It is a small place, located in the back of a liquor store. If you’re looking for a fancy or romantic atmosphere, you will not find it here. What you will find are cozy tables with a full view of the kitchen, a friendly and welcoming staff, and delicious, home-cooked food. We ordered the appetizer with mushroom and cheese balls, 5 cheese rice balls and mozzarella sticks served with marinara sauce. All three were delicious and the sauce is, too. Our meals were pasta vodka and baked ziti and we both ordered a meatball on the side. Everything was so good and came out quickly. The meatballs were moist and flavorful, and the pasta dishes were both very filling. We came home with leftovers. It was served with buttery, toasty garlic bread as well. They serve pizza, sandwiches, calzones, salads, and wings. They also have several desserts available that look amazing in the photos. We will definitely be back to try more options!

I’ve been wanting to bring my wife here for some time. We finally made it and it did not disappoint. The appetizer was good but our pastas were fantastic. I had the penne vodka and my wife had the baked ziti. It was a very good portion. Came with garlic bread as well. They offer great looking pizza and sandwiches also. Service was great. Very glad we came.

The owner was super friendly and I absolutely loved the atmosphere. The pizza is fantastic. I got a Sicilian and my brother got the white pie and man they’re both to die for. Especially the white pie the under carriage was beautifully crisp and the cheese was so good. I recommend this place to anyone looking for amazing pizza at good prices. I will be coming back again!

I like the Mom and Pop type places with good food. This one has great food.
My favorite BBQ is in a gas station in KC, so I thought why not Italian Food in a liquor store. It sure worked out about the same.
So if you don’t have to have the fancy atmosphere this is the place for Italian in the Joplin area.

I visited Mondinos today for my wife’s birthday. Everything was cooked to perfection, and we ordered a little bit of everything from pasta, sandwich, canzone, to soup. It was so delicious I requested pizza for delivery to our kids. The service was like going home from college to mom’s (if mom was an Italian woman from New York)! It was warm, friendly and inviting. The chicken parmesan was mouth watering, the Italian hero was toasted with the freshest cold cuts, and the pizza was still piping hot when it got delivered. Id give Mondinos 10 stars if I could.

Great little spot. Definitely unassuming from the outside but don’t let it fool you. The food is great; hot and fresh with large servings. The service is quick and friendly. Will definitely be back!

Honestly I was skeptical about this place but boy was I surprised! The food was absolutely amazing and the owners were awesome!! We had dinner there and got dessert to go because we were stuffed. Can’t wait to go back!!
