The food is Tex-Mex, not really authentic. To start of the chips and salsa come with red chips salsa and what’s seems like ranch-jalapeño dip (nobody in our table was a fan of it). I had the “caldo de mariscos” (seafood soup) it was decent, everyone else was not very impressed with the food. They didn’t seem to have tortas or tacos from other meats like cabeza, barbacoa, tripe, tongue or similar meats. The waiters were young and inexperienced, seems like we had to keep asking for things instead of being asked if we needed anything, and it also seems like they need to hire more waiters.

The atmosphere here is great. The host seated me right away and was very pleasant. However, I was disappointed in the quality of their food. I ordered the cheese enchiladas with beans and rice. The enchiladas, although covered with sauce, were dry. The beans and rice really had no flavor.

Very disappointed in the chili relleno. It was swimming in watery sauce. The cheese was stuck to the plate. I thought it was something that had been frozen and then microwave but the manager said they made it in the kitchen. The flavor was good. The guacamole tasted like it came from a jar almost like baby food. The gentleman that rang up our bill was what I would consider a spoiled brat. He must have been related to the owner. Not someone I would choose for the last person a customer interacts with before leaving. The interior was old and run down .

This place is always very quick with service and the food comes out hot and with a smile. Victor is always happy to help when you need anything and remembers my order as “The usual?” They serve a huge variety of types of foods from Mexican dishes to Italian, and Hamburgers. What a great place for lunch and dinner.

Monarcas Mexican Restaurant in Taylor, TX is SUCH a GEM! They have fantastic menudo, with ALL the fixings, and delicious homemade tortillas, both flour AND corn! They also have the best horchata I think I’ve EVER had! We will DEFINITELY be back!

Great food, great customer service, and great authentic vibes. Everyone enjoyed their meals and the wait wasn’t too long. The only thing I would change would be making the crispy tacos with more flavor, but that’s it. That was the best tortilla soup I’ve ever tasted!

I asked for the triple enchilada and got 2 chicken enchiladas, but I was hungry so I didn’t say anything. Glad I didn’t get tortilla soup, the mushrooms make it too soup and it was more water than anything. The enchiladas were good tho, I would come back.

Fast friendly service. Tried a combination plate and especially liked the fajita taco and cheese enchilada. The chips were served with a jalapeño ranch that was a nice change and very tasty.
