We wanted to try a new (to us) Mexican restaurant and found Monarca’s. It’s located in a fairly nondescript shopping center off the highway, but don’t let the exterior fool you. They’ve got some incredible dishes. I don’t remember the name of the dish but it was ribs with verde sauce. The only difficulty I had was getting the rib meat off the bone in order to put it on my tortillas. I wound up eating the ribs and having the tortilla on the side. Would definitely still order again. And don’t forget a visit to the candy store nearby!

My first time there food was good they have a good variety to choose from and the prices are not bad. I had the shrimp tacos they were great. They are kind of hidden away but worth searching out. I will be returning for more.

Delicious food. Very generous portions. We stopped in while traveling and will stop by if we travel this way again. The chicken enchiladas were so good-moist, flavorful and the verde sauce was perfectly tangy with a hint of pepper coming through.

So this may just be my experience because even the people around me said that it’s normally really good but I ordered the fajita steak the one that has the pineapple with the onions extra well grilled.
When they brought it out it was just a steak fajita No pineapple And the onions came out pretty white Meaning they weren’t hardly grilled at all. For most people this wouldn’t be that big a deal But I told him I was allergic to onions (the enzymein adieu to cooks out)And made sure to not get the Pico to go or the guacamole Then asked can I have extra sour cream Since I’m giving up both of those. Then I said I might order the cheesecake dessert.
He responded I need to know if you’re going to order it or not. So I decided to order it.
When my food came out I told them I was expecting Pineapple to be part of the meal so they cooked two slices of pineapple and brought it out to me Now I’m no Chef But I’m pretty sure that if you leave out an ingredient And just add it in at the end It’s not the same As when you cook it together with the rest of the food Period
I then went through and picked out every onion put it on a plate and had them take it back and grill them. He gave me a disgusted look. I chopped my pineapple into small pieces while my food got cold and waited for my grilled onion. When it came back I mice everything and ate my not hot food… I won’t say cold. Then waited about 20 min for him to ask if I was ready for my dessert. When it came out he cleared my table taking my used silverware. The dessert didn’t come with any silverware. I had to ask for some. Which he pulled off a nearby table and gave me.

We had the shrimp tacos, chicken, quesadilla, and cheese enchilada. They were all wonderful. The salsa was amazing. We told them they needed to open up a franchise shop in Kansas where we live. 🙂

This is my absolute favorite mexican food place in Jonesboro. The people are great. The cheese dip is amazing and you get plenty of food. I recommend the steak fajitas!
