Monais Soulfood Restaurant did an Amazing job catering the Black History Month Staff Luncheon!! The food was fresh, flavorful (not salty), and tasted like it came from my grandmothers kitchen. The staff was raving about how delicious the food was and can’t wait for next years event. We had their candied yams, macaroni and cheese, collard greens, potato salad, fried catfish, fried chicken, baked chicken, and corn bread ! Do not hesitate, this is the best soul food in town, you won’t be disappointed. The prices are also very reasonable for the quality you get. Thank You Monai!

Saw this place on Instagram. Went to have dinner and it was amazing food. Flavorful, seasoned and great fusion of food. They didnt have a couple of things on their menu but everything else we ordered was excellent. Atmosphere is a lil mundane but the food makes up for it. Food to go or to sit will not disappoint.

Amazing wings. Tried them for the first time when a friend brought them to thanksgiving and I had to ask where they were from. We called to place an order about 30 minutes in advance and when we came to pick it up, it was hot, fresh, and ready to eat. Ordered the lemon pepper wings, mac n cheese, and green beans. Absolutely sensational wings. Crispy on the outside and tender on the inside. Good level of flavor coverage too. I was already thinking about my next visit before finishing my meal. I will be back!

I live 30 min away and was very hungry so I placed my order 30 min in advance over the phone. We got 2 lemon pepper chicken dinnerswith string beans, mac and rice and the sides. Wings were nice and crispy but also tender and juicy in the inside. Amazing food and service, will definitely come back again !

I checked this place out earlier today. I ordered the fish and shrimp with potato salad, collard greens and yams. I got Mac and cheese as a side. The yams were sweet and delicious. Mac and cheese were also delicious. But the potato salad and collard greens were above delicious lol, really good. The fish was great also, I felt like some of the shrimp maybe had too much batter on them? But overall the shrimp was good as well. Definitely a 9 out of 10 meal.

I ordered my food at 752 and had to wait upwards of an hour. When trying to support a business I saw struggling in Instagram owned by people that look like me, I was wholly disappointed. Unfortunately, I will not be returning to Monai’s. The struggles highligted on Instagram probably stem from management. I wish you the best, but some things will have to change in order to experience success. After the long wait, my order was wrong and continued to wait. I pray things change.

Well, it was Valentine’s Day, February the 14th… This had been our third attempt to order food from Monai’s. One previous time, we called in, they hang up on us. I thought, “Maybe it’s a busy day or a rush.” The second time, we were greeted with, “The only thing we have is chicken and fish,” We decided not to order that day. We decided to go in person at 7:30pm this day to grab takeout for a night in. Once again, “The only thing we have are sides, Fish, Chicken and Shrimp.” We decided to just go with that. Afterall, it was Valentines Day. Every other place was busy. We waited until about 9:30, after receiving several apologies. The cashier who was a nice young man, came out with one more apology and said “I’m sorry, we are out of the collard greens, and here’s some money back (slapped on the table) for your wait. Okay, we went with that. We get our food at about 9:50. There were only two customers in the restaurant! We get home, the rice was undercooked, sauce for the chicken was forgotten. Everything was just basic. Now, I’m a tough critic when it comes to food, having grown up in New Orleans, and previously owning a restaurant. I understand how hard the restaurant business is and hate leaving negative reviews. Here’s my suggestions: 1. Take Inventory and prepare better for weekends 2. Prep! Prep! Prep! 3. Never offer money back unless there is a serious complaint, a gift card to encourage customer retention would have been smarter 4. Loud laughter and jokes from the back of house is adding to customer frustration. The assumption is that no one has a sense of urgency and that’s contributing to delayed orders. 5. Turn down the sad, loud music, we couldn’t hear our thoughts. 6. The food wasn’t properly vented, so everything was soggy and we only live 5 minutes away. These things can be fixed with, training, proper planning, coaching and attention to detail. We won’t be back any time soon. I’m giving two stars because we did get good this time and the cashier was a polite young man.

I had high hopes but with the long hour wait to then getting my food & the breaded shrimp was so dry Mac and cheese was more cheese than anything the candy yams tasted off I couldn’t put my finger on what was wrong with it kind of had a brunt sweet old taste I just would not recommend this place. Threw the food right up could not even sit in my stomach such a shame.
