I feel like people have not given this place their due diligence, or they haven’t actually experienced cuisine outside of their own bubble enough to appreciate everything that Monaco is. I went with a girl friend and the drinks are on point with perfect balance and flavor profiles (I’m a mixologist, so yes I would know). The Hugo Spritz, Aperol Spritz, and espresso martini were all great. The wine pairing suggested with the lamb shank was on point. Food wise, the crudo was fresh and had a great presentation. The lamb shank was cooked perfectly and very tender. All of the pizza was perfection, as well as the shrimp appetizer. Love the flavor profiles here. The only dish that missed the mark was the mussels in the mussels and clam dish for my friend, and our server was more than attentive and on the ball to correct it. Great vibe all around, wonderful food, and a nice spot for whatever the vibe is.

We went here for our bday. I must say the staffs are phenomenal. From our waiter to bartender to host to busboy. Our Monti waiter, Jeff, Holly, Levi, Tristan, and Sam the manager. Love the food, the drinks, the vibe, the decorations. Totally recommended. We had so much fun. All of our girls. We went wild haha. Please come and experience for yourself. Don’t take my words for it. Everyone taste buds are different but overall for me, love everything about this place. There’s outdoor patio. You can bring your pet. You can choose to valet or validated self parking.

Do you want to experience the blandest Italian food possible? Monaco Italian kitchen is for you! For example, you can have the Branzino, which the kitchen manages to get both dry and flavorless, or you can have the Caccio e Pepe, the emblematic Roman pasta. Alas, what you will get is a plate of spaghetti for kids with a random runny sauce. See photo. And if you request Parmesan cheese, they will tell you that it comes at an extra charge (!) and you get a tiny sample of powder flavorless cheese! Have they lost their minds? Even at Pizza Hut you get the powder cheese for free! Cocktails were ok that’s about it. Enjoy!

A taste of Italy in Irvine!

The highly anticipated fourth concept by Orange County restaurateur, Tony Monaco, has opened Monaco Italian Kitchen at Irvine’s newest dining complex, Eighteen Main!

With a focus on freshness and tradition, scratch-made doughs, specialty hand-rolled pastas, locally sourced meats, craft sauces, and hand-crafted cocktails, Executive Chef Karl Pfleider showcases dishes heavily inspired by a team trip to Italy last year.

Here’s what we tried:
Burrata with pesto, tomato jam, crispy prosciutto, 12 yr aged balsamic and basil

Beef Tartare: hand cut ribeye medallions with egg yolk, capers, shallots, evoo and dijonaise sauce

Arancini with scamorza affumicata and marinara and grana padano

Charred Octopus with romesco, broccolini, arugula, almonds and lemon (MY FAVE)

Neapolitan-Style Pizzas: Showcasing Neapolitan tradition with favorites like Bianca, Margherita, and Diavola.

Saltimbocca Sandwiches: Naples street food made with fresh pizza dough: Mortadella with pistachio pesto and ricotta, Chicken & Nduja with Calabrian chili aioli, and Neapolitan Sausage, Prosciutto, and Caprese.

Housemade Pastas: Cacio e Pepe, Tortellini in Brodo, Lamb Bolognese (MUST-TRY)

Branzino : Mediterranean Sea Bass with crispy potatoes, Swiss Chard, confit tomatoes and Italian Salsa Verde

Chicken Picatta: panko crusted chicken with orzo, frisée and lemon (MUST-TRY)

Cannoli

Gorgeous decor!! Lovely indoor and outdoor dining! Elevated Italian Cuisine!

Park in the parking structure and have them validate your ticket.

Highly recommended italian restaurant. Meets all requirements for high-end casual. Set in an office park area, the eatery offers outdoor and bar seating with more proper indoor options. Ellie our server was excellent on all levels. Cold Peroni and a formidable Apperol Spritz was refreshing. The chopped salad has a nice freshness and light dressing with pepperocinis. The Capricciosa pizza didn’t disappoint. Monaco can be a destination or -in-the-area stop. Good happy hour and drink specials nightly.

Great service & atmosphere, but food was just meeh.

Ordered the spicy tuna appetizer cake and that was good. My Ceasar salad was alright, chicken was dry and overcooked, lettuce was kinda limp, like it was a few days old, dressing decent. My friend got a lamb burger with fries, and the fries were warmish. He said burger was ok.

The bill was over $70 for just the 3 items, so a bit pricey.

Staff was friendly. Great outside atmosphere vibes.

Swanky new Italian spot in town

What happens when a culinary team tours Italy and brings ✨the best✨ back? You get Monaco Italian Kitchen—where every bite is amore❣️

From hand-rolled pastas to scratch-made doughs, and cocktails that hit just right (like the espresso martini with oat milk!), Monaco’s menu is a love letter to regional Italian flavors—with a Cali twist.

My favorite menu items:
– Octopus – charred octopus, romesco sauce, charred broccolini, arugula, almonds, charred lemon ($21)
– Beef Tartare – hand cut ribeye medallions, egg yolk, capers, shallots, evoo, dijonaise sauce ($21)
– Arugula Salad – lemon vinaigrette, toasted pine nuts, pickled shallots, grana padano ($14)
– Lamb Bolognese lamb ragu, pappardelle, pecorino romano, basil($31)
– Branzino – Mediterranean Sea bass, crispy potatoes, Swiss chard, confit tomatoes, Italian salsa verde ($38)

FYI❕There’s also a kids menu. Kids pasta and kids cheese pizza, both $12. I also noticed that there are two TVs, one of which is playing kids show so it’s family friendly.

If you like to imbibe, choose from the classics, specialty cocktails, an extensive wine menu, and 3 items are mocktails. I’m eyeing the pesto cocktail, cannoli cocktail, and white lotus cocktail.

Such a cute new restaurant! The decor is super modern and stylish, and you can tell they put a lot of thought into creating a welcoming vibe. Our server Joseph was amazing, so friendly and attentive the whole time. Jason behind the bar made some of the best drinks I’ve had in a while, and he was just as personable. The customer service here really makes the experience stand out. Definitely a new favorite spot. I’ll be coming back soon! Perfect for birthdays!
