Excellent burritos and hot food in the back. One of the best burritos and guacamole in the city. The way they make it with the cheese…trust me you’ve never had it before. At least not in the area. Amazing flavors and textures. Order a bean and rice/veg burrito if you need to. You may need to explain it to them but they can do it.

This is a great place to order a lot of food from for parties. Buy a lot of tacos, chips and guacamole, and quesadillas and everyone will be happy. The carne asada, carnitas, and al pastor tacos all taste superb, but my favorite were the pollo asado tacos.

Food excellent, delicious. Grocery store with deli, well shelved with both Hispanic and non Hispanic items. Price fair for the area. No place to sit inside. Two little tables outside shielded from wind by plastic curtain. Most people do carryout.

I live in the neighborhood. My uncle is a longtime and upstanding business owner and real estate developer in the neighborhood and so I have always treated everyone in this area with a lot of kindness and respect. Tonight I walked into this store for a rice pudding because I was craving it. I was immediately followed and watched, and I knew right away I was being profiled because I was wearing a sweatsuit and looked dressed down. For a Latino owned business I find this unacceptable and I will never come back, and nor will my family.

Best Mexican food in the neighborhood. The chilaquiles were amazing. Tacos, sopes and tostadas were great too.

my wife and I agree that this is one of the best tacos that we have had in NYC. Not to be dramatic but it’s truly delicious food. it’s now our favorite neighborhood spot! And the atmosphere is so chill and a great spot to get authentic Mexican ingredients. highly recommend

Let me share my experience at Mona Ayala, the Mexican food market and bodega that exceeded all my expectations! From the moment I walked in, I was impressed by how immaculately clean the store was – practically spotless, which I absolutely loved.
Now, onto the food – and oh boy, it was pretty good! Their tacos, chicken and rice, and burritos were authentic Mexican flavors and they use fresh ingredients.
But that’s not all – Mona Ayala also offers a variety of fresh fruit, juices, and Mexican snacks.
