Best Pad Thai I’ve had in a really long time. Family owned and prepared. Great market, too!

Mon Asian Market Restaurant in New Bern is a hidden gem for authentic Thai cuisine, and it easily takes the crown for the best Thai food in town. As a combination of a market and restaurant, this spot offers a unique experience for anyone looking to explore authentic Asian flavors. The food is the star of the show, with dishes like Drunken Noodles packed with fresh ingredients, bold flavors, and a perfect balance of spices. Every bite reflects the attention to quality and authenticity that’s rare to find in a small town like New Bern. The staff is courteous and efficient, adding a warm, welcoming touch to the experience.
While the food is exceptional, the atmosphere of the restaurant side could use some improvement. The setup feels a bit utilitarian, which slightly detracts from the otherwise outstanding dining experience. A bit of decor and ambiance could elevate this establishment to match the quality of its food.
For those in New Bern craving authentic and flavorful Thai cuisine, Mon Asian Market is a must-visit. Whether you’re dining in or taking out, you’ll leave satisfied and eager to return. If they can enhance their dining space to reflect the quality of their dishes, they’ll be a solid 5-star spot. As it stands, I’m giving Mon Asian Market 4 out of 5 stars. This is the best Thai food in town, and I’ll definitely be back!

Absolutely the best Thai food I’ve had in a long time! The egg noodles were cooked perfectly and the sauce was excellent! My parents had never eaten Thai before but this will become their new favorite place to go.

Visiting New Bern and happened upon this little gem of an Asian grocery store plus restaurant. Order your food at the counter. They have a few tables if you want to eat in. Ordered Drunken Noodles with pork, medium spicy. It was 100% spot on delicious! Medium was a true medium level of substantial spice. If you don’t want your food spicy, they have a “standard” level and zero. They also serve boba tea! The Thai tea with tapioca pearl boba was very good. Service was friendly and fast. The grocery is stocked with all kinds of fun Asian snacks, teas, etc.

Great Asian food. I like my Vegetable Pad Thai spicy with extra peanuts and my wife likes it not spicy. We also like the Red Curry rice with Veggies. Good food. large portions. Friendly. Many of the LEO officers eat there during the week because it’s quick and affordable and a good delicious meal.

We always get carry out from kitchen here. The flavor is wonderful. Be careful with your hot numbers because they are hot, and I am a spicy food person. Wait time is not bad and the food is worth it. Very good.

Tried this place for the first time. Had the Pho, it was really good. I will be back to try the Drunken noodles. Nice place. Nothing fancy. Place your order at the counter. If you eat in they bring the food to you. I ate in, very clean and the staff was very nice.
Went back and tried the Drunken noodles….very good.

Amazing pho! You truly don’t need to add any sauces or spices to this dish. Surpassed my expectations! And the grocery is fun to walk around and momentarily immerse yourself in the cultural differences.

Very authentic. Got the Boat Noodles and they actually use blood in it!! So many places don’t use it. The meatballs in it were bouncy and full of flavor. The Som Tam Pu Pla Ra was excellent too. Very kind staff and great service.
