Quaint diner with a separate bar area. The food was fresh and came out at a reasonable wait time. The waitress seemed new and did the best she could since they were fairly busy and she was solo.
Pros: clean, quaint, comfortable seating, didn’t feel stacked in to of each other (a nice change of pace as many places will squeeze takes and chairs in), large selection of menu options with a lot for vegetarians, and you can pick between small or large
Cons: some of the food was just okay (coleslaw was meh), the pancake was fantastic but smaller than expected, the waitress missed cues like the empty chalula (spelling) bottle, and water glasses (glasses are small, so maybe a pitcher of water could be offered), parking is minimal
I would return.

I was so disappointed when I heard that the Galena Steak House was closing, but I was so happy to hear that we were getting a new restaurant in it’s place and they did not disappoint! Pictured is the steak skillet, mom’s Florentine eggs Benedict, and a classic ham eggs and hash browns. The food was great and portions were too! Our waitress was super nice when she came around and we enjoyed being in the revamped space. They replaced all of the seating with nice black leather booths and we got the pleasure of sitting in a circle corner one. Super stylish and super comfy. Food was a bit more pricy than others and the wait was a little longer, but we will be back!

Went in expecting a good breakfast, heard good things about the place. To my disappointment, both mine and my wife’s food were not good. We only ate a few bites and ended up leaving hungry. When we told the staff politely that we weren’t going to eat the food because we didn’t care for it, they charged us almost $30 for food even though we didn’t eat it. I would stay away from this one there are better options.

The prime rib, oh you have to order. The Best by far, fried chicken speechless over the top, fresh and the crust Wow! The three of us had a wonderful dinner. Service they ace it. Hats off too everyone and we will return. Soon!

My wife decided to try Mom’s for Valentine’s Day dinner with our friends from out of town. It was our first time eating at Mom’s and it was a great experience all around. We all ordered something for dinner. The only downfall was they just ran out of the prime rib special that my friend wanted. He ordered a ribeye steak and was very pleased with it. Salad bar was very good! The drinks were very good according to my wife and friends. My wife and I will be returning for another meal in the near future.

What can I say… this is such a great place where the exterior doesn’t due the interior justice. Upon arriving, we were met with nothing special on the outside besides the name of the facility and a double door to go through. However, once inside… beautiful dark woods are uniquely placed to enhance the warm feeling and atmosphere. Beautiful bar and lovely tables and booths for which we all sat at comfortably. I chose the prime rib special with baked potatoe, my wife had the fried cod with twice baked potatoe, and our friends both chose the chicken strios with ribs and a side of garlic mashed potatoes. All the dinners came with the salad bar, which was fantastic. I also had a “Dad’s” old fashion, which hit t he spot. The meal was slightly on the expensive side. However, I believe it worth every penny. Yum..

We were there for Thanksgiving, I made the reservations for 10 people for noon and I called early November so we could get the time and table so we could all sit together. So when we got there we had to wait and you sometimes expect to wait for a short period of time and that’s understandable but our wait was close to an hour and then they crammed us into 2 tables and the tables one sat 4 and the other sat 6 and they were back to back which made it very difficult for some of our party to get in and out of where they were sitting at. Prior to this I had asked the people that were trying to seat people what was going on and they told us that the people that were sitting at the table they were going to seat us at were overstaying there time so he told me that he asked them to wrap it up because they had to have the table and apparently the people at that table said they still had to feed their baby so that was longer we had to wait and that’s why we had to sit the way we had to sit. Totally unexceptional service.
My wife and I have been at Mom’s for supper before and it was very good and when it was in Sterling we’d go for breakfast and it was fantastic but because of this that took place on Thanksgiving we will not come back not because your food is bad and the waitress that we had was great but because the way we were treated it was a total embarrassing situation and we won’t be back. The new Mom’s in Dixon. Excellent on all fronts. Ordered the New York Strip and Mom’s Steak. Both top notch. Best steaks I’ve had in a long time. Bar area has a classic high end restaurant atmosphere. Wonderful cheerful bar tender going out of her way to serve the customers. And yes, they have not lost a step for breakfast and brunch.

I have been here about a handful of times and finally thought to give a review. The menu has a lot of choices and I appreciate that. The portions are large as you will see by my photos. Everything I have tried has been excellent. The staff are attentive and friendly even when the entire restaurant is full to capacity.
