This is my go to for Taiwanese/Chinese food. The portions are large and reasonably priced. Erin and Eric are great wait staff. Always great me with a smile. And Mama Zhang, one of the owners, is a sweetheart. I take my friends to eat here often.

I was looking for some Taiwanese food (specifically a beef roll) yesterday when I stumbled across Mom’s Kitchen.
Boy, was I happy I did! We ordered the Taiwanese fried chicken, which was perfectly seasoned and crispy, the chicken chow mein, that had the perfect amount of vegetables, and, of course, my beautiful beef roll. The beef roll was authentic and tasted as if I had been in Taipei, strolling the night markets.
My only concern was that the place was empty, not one seat filled. I know Mom’s Kitchen has been around for a while, but it would be a shame to see it have a similar fate as many restaurants in the SL Valley do nowadays. If you are looking for takeout or an authentic Mandarin & Taiwanese restaurant, please consider supporting this business!

This place was everything we hoped it would be. Our family dined there for lunch today and the food was incredible. Having lived in Taiwan, this is the food I miss the most. The dishes were truly authentic and really hit the spot. The service was excellent as well. Can’t wait to go back to this spot again. I highly recommend to anyone who enjoys Taiwanese food.
Update: returned last week and the food is still amazing!! Added some more photos. Also, thank you for subbing tofu in my eggplant dish. It was so good and I appreciate you accommodating me being a vegetarian. Love this place so much!

We have been wanting to try this place for a while and finally did it yesterday. We liked it! The unique offering of this place compared to other Chinese restaurants is the Northern Chinese dishes, and they are fairly authentic! Spicy bbq lamb with cumin is terrific – while it’s fairly common in China, it’s hard to find in SLC. They also offered shredded pork with peking sauce, which is really common in beijing, but its the first time I saw a restaurant in slc offering this dish, and its delicious. Other recommended dishes include beef roll with green onion and cilantro, lotus stir fry, szechuan twice cooked pork belly. Overall, the service, price and taste are all good! We will be back again to try other dishes 🙂

We visited this place in search of authentic Chinese cuisine, and it did not disappoint. The flavors were excellent, especially the San Bei Ji (Three-Cup Chicken) The dish had the perfect balance of sweetness and savory soy sauce, which paired wonderfully with fresh white rice. The portion sizes were generous, and the overall experience was good. We’re already looking forward to coming back and trying more dishes on the menu. I would recommend for anyone looking for a genuine Chinese food experience!

Very nice chinese food with home cooking style.
A tiny bit too salty for my taste but over all a great place to get delicious food.

The fried chicken was wonderful, and the cabbage dish was a revelation; all dishes were delicious! I was especially touched by the empathy that the host showed toward a distressed woman who came in briefly. It was clear that she had drug issues, and was probably not a paying customer. He polietly sat her and brought her water at her request, as well as bottled water. She sat long enough to drink both, and a little soy sauce, then left while the host was in the kitchen. The young man looked around for her, and left her table as she left it, probably expecting her to come back. His behavior towards her was truely remarkable, very kind. Well done, young man. Thank you!

Dine in experience is really bad compared to takeout. No service at all and everything is self serve – the waiter never checks in on us or asks if we need anything. We have to get napkins/water refill ourselves.
Ordered a couple of entrees and they are not timed well. Took them over 1 hour to prepare all the dishes and we almost forgot about the lotus when it finally came out.
I strongly suggest ordering takeout instead of sitting in the restaurant given the experience.
In terms of the food, they did a better job with Taiwanese dishes compared to Szechuan dishes. I recommend popcorn chicken, soybean paste noodles, pan fried buns, ribs with potatoes. Not recommend braised pork, spicy boild fish (only a couple of fillets!)
Also very small portion!!

Little mom and pop type of restaurant. Wide variety of dishes. Not your average Americanized Chinese food – this stuff is amazing. They also have Korean, Thai, etc dishes, so you can pick many flavor profiles. I had the garlic green beans and kimchi green onion fried rice. Both were extremely delicious! The service was quick and friendly. I can’t wait to come back with several friends to try many dishes together.

Everything I ate was so good with white rice. The eggplant dish was my absolute favorite! I love when the outside of the turnip cake is perfectly crispy and this place delivered. Definitely will be back to try other dishes 🙂
