Was expecting barbecue chicken and got fried chicken worth barbecue sauce. The chicken seemed overcooked or it had been sitting around. The food were good. Tender and fall off the bone good. The red snapper was overcooked. The sausage was good. The service was good, although there was a time we were seeking our server but couldn’t find her.

We loved everything. My grandson ordered the rib dinner with mac and cheese and fries, and I ordered the BBQ Trio Platter with mashed potatoes and gravy and the chilebeans. It was so much food we took most of it home. The ribs were so delicious. We really like the fried chicken too, and the cornbread. Good fries! Jade was our server and she was great. I can’t wait to go back and try some of their other dishes and sides.

Mom’s House is more than all the reviews I’ve seen. The food is absolutely delicious. Stopped in on my trip from the Bay and it did not disappoint! My colleagues took me here and I came back the next day by myself before heading back out of town. The fried shrimp and red snapper reminds me of the way my grandmother from Louisiana would fry everything with cornmeal. Seasoned to perfection with a side of fried cabbage, yams, and macaroni and cheese and the peach cobbler was absolutely ridiculous good! Also don’t sleep on the 4 layer pie. Make sure you wear pants that stretch and be ready to go to sleep afterwards. I will always make room for Mom’s House whenever I’m passing through Bakersfield. Grateful for this introduction!
