Pros: Lovely place, the sushi is delicious, they have solid happy hour deals and interesting specials on offer.

Cons: The service. We arrived shortly after they opened (around 5:30pm, they open at 5), there were a few patrons there already and it wasn’t too busy. We realized only after we had ordered that there was a happy hour menu we weren’t given by our waiter! Felt like we were missing out big time, as they have a great sushi happy hour deal we would have loved to order. We also overheard another waiter tell customers at another table about their specials which we had heard nothing about!

Combined with slow service, we left feeling a bit sad about our experience here due simply to a lack of attention paid from our waiter.

With all that said, the sushi was very tasty and we will likely be back to give it another try.

Such amazing food! The sushi was so fresh and tasty and the Hiroshima Yaki is to die for. I highly suggest the Hiroshima Yaki to anyone who wants to try a unique Japanese dish. And get it with the mayo!

The sushi, ramen, and desserts were all incredibly delicious. The service was top-notch, and the staff were very friendly, attentive, and truly professional. A great place I’d be happy to visit again.

The okonomiyaki is really good, with a noodle that was firm yet slightly charred. The toppings all melded well. I didn’t use any extra sauce as that would remove the balance of tasting the ingredients in the okonomiyaki. Highly recommend. The karaage was really good too, tender and salted well. Same for the edamame with the spicy garlic sauce. Highly recommend giving the edamame your own toss when it arrives, so you get more sauce on the edamame skin. The burger is forgettable, get other stuff instead.

The staff is super duper nice and the place is pretty cool, so I’d go back if I was in the area.

It just gets better. I ate here years ago for the kitchen’s auxiliary menu (the pickles!) and recently I’ve gone in for the sushi – and it just gets better. Succulent nigiri. Tasty bombs. Rockin rolls. The rice is always right, the service attentive and prescient. It’s as good as it gets.

I was really looking forward to enjoying some sushi, but unfortunately, the experience didn’t quite meet expectations. While the food especially the Califlower dish was absolutely delicious, the service was slow. We received our appetizers around 8:30pm, but our sushi didn’t arrive until 20 minutes later. Despite being told the kitchen was backed up, tables that arrived after us were served before we were. Our server was polite, but forgot one of our dishes, which added to the delay. They did offer a small gesture to make up for it, which we appreciated. Overall, great flavors but the wait and mix-ups took away from the experience.

I have been coming here since they opened. Consistent, fresh, and earthy Japanese food with a great energy and staff.
Always a good go too at any time of the year.

My favorites are:
– The scallop hand roll- or any hand roll
– Miso soup
– Any sushi dish
– The veggie curry ramen.

This place has the same earthy-woodsy-sushi energy as blue ribbon sushi on Sullivan Street. Delicious and grounding Japanese food.

This restaurant is Japanese owned and the sushi is excellent. My very picky Japanese family came to visit NYC and literally said “this fish is one of the highest quality fish I’ve had in the US” so it’s legit. This restaurant is going to be talked about with my family for a long time!

They use real wasabi. I am speechless!

Side note, please bring back the Hiroshima okonomiyaki

Excellent Japanese restaurant! Conveniently located near the Morgan Avenue L train station. Atmosphere is cozy with three long tables occupying the dining room, making dining with big groups easy and the experience of dining next to strangers intimate.
Lighting is soft and warm, and the service staff is polite and professional.
Would recommend trying their hand rolls, the yellowtail and spicy tuna were both fresh and tasty, and come with not only the standard soy sauce but a unique ginger sauce that pairs well and is a different experience from typical hand roll flavor. The vegan gyoza were excellent and beat the reputation of vegan dishes being bland or boring. The miso ramen was hearty with good classic ramen toppings and can be made not spicy upon request. The dessert options are a matcha cake with chocolate ice cream with a fruit puree base , and one that changes daily that you must ask about.
Finally, the wait staff is very personable if you want to start a conversation! multiple members of their team completed my outfit which brought me joy. 5/5 wonderful dining experience.
