What a gem. No frills, authentic Japanese food, and I was just there a couple months ago. Wish I could have tried everything on the menu! Lightest tastiest teriyaki sauce, and the fried tofu was not to be missed. Chatted with two locals while there who both raved about the place. Would definitely go back!

Spent $50, got very little food. Wanted some to-go sushi, stopped in here with my wife to get some rolls. The food was good, service was okay, but the portion size for the price is disappointing. These are half rolls, at best, charged at full price.. We won’t be going back to this location, I just can’t justify paying $50 for such a small amount of food.

Definitely coming back here! The food was delicious—quite literally every single dish! The chicken katsu curry was to die for. The gyu don dish was delicious as well. This dish was the perfect balance of sweet and savory. Highly recommend trying this place out!

The best Japanese food I’ve ever had in Arizona. It is a small charming place. Didn’t need any fancy presentation or hype. The service was excellent. Overall very heart warming. Just overall perfect and I will be dreaming about this place til I can stop by again.

Great environment and even better food.
Found the place on a hunt for takoyaki. Found the best takoyaki I’ve ever had, can’t complain about that at all. Since then I’ve had some sushi and a few other menu items and I’ve never been disappointed. It can get busy at times and the seating for eating in is limited, but it’s a small price to pay for the experience.

Love coming here, the staff is very friendly and welcoming, so kind, nice quiet atmosphere. We love the pan fried gyoza, pork katsu don and chu-hi, great presentation and tasty. Only quip is that there isn’t more seating but we’re happy to see them do well!

This place is one of the best Japanese restaurants in the United States in my opinion. The food is barely Americanized and very very close to 100% authenticity. I am Japanese and grew up in Japan so I can vouch for this. Service is good too. It’s like a clean version of a hole in the wall restaurant and it was an amazing experience.めっちゃ美味しかったです!

A true hidden gem! This mom-and-pop Japanese restaurant is the real deal—no frills, just incredibly delicious, traditional dishes that are hard to find outside of Japan. We were blown away by the variety and authenticity of the menu.

We tried the ankimo, vegetable and calamari tempura, gyu don, okonomiyaki, kani cream croquettes, takoyaki, and the sake ochazuke—which is an absolute must try! Every dish was thoughtfully prepared and packed with flavor.

They also offer a great selection of high-quality sake and shochu, plus draft Japanese lagers to round out the experience.

If you’re looking for an authentic Japanese meal that feels like you’ve been transported to a backstreet eatery in Tokyo, this is the place.

Edit 03/02/2024 : The portion sizes are definitely not this size anymore, and the prices have increased to me not seeing it as a feasible dinner location. I didnt want to change my review, because I want to see this business thriving, however I feel that this is misleading and this place lost a few previous employees that made it a special experience for every customer, past portion sizes-price ratio felt as if you are paying what you are getting, the fish is cut smaller, the ramen has fewer toppings and one very thin slice of chasu.

This place will always hold a special place in my heart but I do not find myself wanting to return after each visit and find more for my money elsewhere.

Previous 5 star review:

This review is long overdue, I’ve been coming here since 2019 and I’ve always had an amazing time. The food is just as lovely as all the people there. The sushi has been fresh and the best fish I’ve had in arizona.

I do get more than just sushi, everything I’ve had off the menu has been amazing and I am still trying new things.
