The staff was friendly and the patrons seemed to be mostly regulars. Overall great experience.
The only improvement I could suggest would be to wipe down the condiment containers. That aside…YUM
Food: I only ordered catfish and green beans but it was exceptional. Catfish was hot and fresh. Green beans weren’t overly seasoned(I’d rather have to add a little salt than eat something with too much salt…that’s just me) I got the same plate to go, that’s how much I enjoyed everything.
I’ll definitely be making a stop here when I come back through Jefferson, I found a gem.
I decreased my rating for the atmosphere/experience and for the service. There’s 9-ish tables in a small area, and they’re close together. It was loud and cramped, so it was not an atmosphere that helped the dining experience.
The service. Where do I begin? They’re super nice, friendly people.. Thank goodness for that! But..
We were the second customers at the lunch hour.. Two parties came in closely after us. Both parties that came after us had their orders taken and were brought their drinks before we were even asked what we wanted to drink. But eventually, we were asked what we wanted, and our order was taken.
We waited and waited and didn’t get our drinks. A kind lady behind the bar asked us what we had to drink, so we told her, and that was as far as that went. She didn’t get our drinks, so???
The one couple that came in third at the time we came got their food first. We were the second ones to get our food. However, we still didn’t have our drinks! So we asked for them and preceded eating.
Most all of the other tables had filled up, and people were getting their food and drinks. We had to ask again for our drinks, and eventually they came.
By the time we were leaving, the party came in right after us still didn’t have their food, although virtually everybody that had come in after them did. I overheard the waitress tell them that their food would be coming soon. Given the nature of the food, it was weird that they didn’t have their food when everybody else did.
So all of that, to say, we couldn’t make rhyme or reason out of the service aspect of the restaurant. It didn’t matter what order you came in or what order you ordered in, You may or may not get your drinks, and you may or may not get your food in a timely manner. So our lunch hour was much more drawn out than it needed to be. The food was okay, but that deep southern cooking is not something we enjoy. So we don’t intend to go back.
It wasn’t worth it to us, but clearly, based on the ratings, other people love it. If you love southern food and you don’t need timely service, you might love the place!!
We have been for breakfast and lunch – both 10/10. The burgers & club sandwich are great. The omelettes and biscuits & gravy are phenomenal.
Great service. The owners are so kind and friendly – they treat you like family. Definitely one of our new favorite spots to eat.
Lord have mercy!!!
For $10 more than you can eat, I got chicken livers, fried okra, mac n cheese, and cornbread muffin.
And everything was delicious, people are great, PLEASE SUPPORT THIS PLACE…
And mama bells keep up the good work.
If you’re gonna eat soul food, you gotta have something fried in grease or smothered with gravy. If your pressure or diabetes doesn’t go up, you’re doing it wrong! We started with the fried chicken. OMG!! It was smokin’ (literally)! Fresh out of the grease! We paired it with the collard greens, mac & cheese and cornbread. We washed it down with SWEET tea! And, just when we thought we were done, we found out the dessert of the day was apple cobbler-YES PLEASE!
We had ourselves a great time AND a great meal!
We will be back…SOON!
