If you’re looking for one of the most charming and community-minded coffee shops in Cincinnati, Mom ‘n’ em Coffee on Whetsel Avenue in Madisonville should be at the top of your list. This local gem was started by brothers Tony and Austin Ferrari as a tribute to their mom—and that warm, welcoming energy is exactly what you feel the moment you walk in.
We tried two of their breakfast sandwiches, both made fresh and full of flavor. The Classic Egg & Bacon is simple but done perfectly—fluffy egg, crisp bacon, and a balance that makes it our favorite. The seasonal Mushroom Melt (we added an egg!) is a must-try too, with earthy mushrooms, fig jam, and peppery arugula creating an unexpectedly delicious combo. Paired with a beautifully made mocha, it was the perfect weekend breakfast.
The atmosphere is cozy, eclectic, and full of life—lots of tables, window seats, and counter space whether you’re catching up with friends, working solo, or just enjoying a slow morning.
We love supporting small local businesses like this that make Cincinnati neighborhoods feel like home.

Beautiful coffee shop with a premium feel. Wonderful food options and excellent coffee based drinks. The coffee is good but they don’t offer pour over, just drip. I think they’re cappuccinos and lattes are where it’s at.

The coffee is always good, I love the coconut cold brew. They serve the coffee into mugs. The drip coffee is free refills! I wish they had more chair options over stools but tons of seating options.

Very cute atmosphere and decor! I so wanted to love it but I popped in before work and it took 20 minutes to make 1 latte that was made incorrectly. I got a pastry that looked AMAZING but was just okay when eating. I would give them another chance but not a great first impression.

My favorite coffee shop in Cincinnati! Everyone is so nice here & the food & drink items I’ve tried have all been amazing. My go to is an iced matcha latte and the yogurt & granola bowl with seasonal fruit & honey.

Great expresso drinks, great modern atmosphere, very inviting, good food and great service. Inside does get crowded but has a large outdoor seating area with lots of shade. Food is good but prices are a little high.

This place has a great atmosphere, the staff was very kind, and the food looked amazing. We also tried a pistachio croissant that was excellent. That said, I wanted to share our honest experience with the drinks, which unfortunately really missed the mark for us.
We ordered an iced vanilla latte and an ube latte. We usually like our drinks mildly sweet, but these had no sweetness at all. The vanilla latte especially had no vanilla flavor. Both drinks also had a sour taste that didn’t seem right to us. Maybe it’s part of their style, but it was tough to drink.
We also noticed a bunch of small white curds floating on top (pics), which gave the drinks a strange texture and made us wonder if something was off. We ended up tossing both drinks, which was disappointing and felt like a waste of money.
Just wanted to give a heads up to others who might be expecting something different in an iced latte.

Great coffee shop with delicious drinks and food. The avocado toast was fantastic. The environment is warm, bright and welcoming with plenty of comfortable seating. The restrooms are non-gendered; which I love. Staff are friendly, efficient, and informative. I will definitely go back!

Popular spot for coffee and breakfast! I got an iced chai and while the size isn’t that large, the flavor was good. Indoor and outdoor seating in the back. I like that they deliver your items to your table! It was totally full on a Friday morning.
